I must say I am shocked! who'd have thunk it, the numbers we were fed by such believable stalwarts in Journalism as Ed Schultz, and Rachel Maddow were a rouse for political election purposes? Say it ain't so.....

So when Gallop reported it was 7.8% back in October were they lying then too?

And where did I state they lied? All I stated, and rightfully so, these are in no way the official numbers.
Also they come from a polling company, and a polling company that has lost a lot of its accuracy and credibility because of the US elections where they were wayyy off.
The only numbers that matter are the official numbers.

Perhaps calling it bullcrap gave him the idea that you were implying that the numbers were a lie. I don't know, I"m just guessing.
You are dead on about polling. Polling is just a statistical exercise based on available data and it comes with a margin of error. Fortunately the government knows exactly who is and is not working, so all they have to do is count. No margin of error and 100% reliable.

Maybe.. the famous language barrier.
Wellllll one problem there.... the official US numbers are also basically a poll. They are "official", but that is it.. they are as bad or good as Gallup or others.. all depends on the methodology of the poll. Because the US has no national registration system, then the way they do these numbers is by basically asking companies on hires, firing and so on.. It is no way 100% accurate, and can not really be compared to some other nations methodology and accuracy.
The only unemployment numbers that are accurate and reliable (aka close to the actual number) are the ones from certain European countries and even those can be manipulated.
Take my home country of Denmark.. those unemployment numbers are very very accurate, since everyone is registered as employed or not and then they take out the students and elderly and so on. So instead of saying a typical US number being in only in the thousands.. aka 200k or 210k for example, the Danish are down to the hundreds and less.. so lets say 43212 unemployed as an example. So the accuracy of the US numbers is pathetic (huge margin of error basically), but the Danish are pretty accurate (low margin of error).
But then there are countries like Spain, where the numbers are also as exact as the Danish numbers but the ability to "cheat" the system often overstates the actual number of unemployed. About 5% to 10% of the Spanish unemployed are out right cheaters and 25% of the rest could have their unemployment removed because they dont meet the criteria for getting the unemployment insurance.
Unemployment numbers are often very political and do not reflect the reality of the situation.
