DeMint will leave Senate to head Heritage Foundation

South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, an influential Republican who has helped prod his party rightward, will step down from his seat in January to become the next director of the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.

.....let him go hang out with Perkins. As long as his azz is out of Congress. This is a good thing!

he fell flat on his face attempting to get more right wing senators elected. The GOP LOST two seats despite all his efforts.

The Heritage Foundation is a good place for him, away from the Senate where he often blocked appointees and had a soapbox paid for by the taxpayers. Let Koch and company pay for it now.

I think he felt like he had lost his power and hold over his fellow Republicans and I don't think he could face that day after day.

    Oh well....

    there's also this :

In 2010, Fuelner earned a total compensation (including bonuses and incentives) of $1,098,612. His base salary was $477,097. The annual salary for a senator: $174,000.

    Jim DeMint leaving the Senate
not that i fault him on the money side. don't we all want a better salary?

i don't doubt that he also thinks he will have a better bully pulpit as the head of a major conservative think tank than he would have as one senator.

Well, you would think that would raise the collective intelligence level of the U.S. Senate, regardless of who the replacement is.

Its nice to see the slightly liberal follows with the radical liberal in presenting personal attacks on an individual for their beliefs rather then being able to challenge them on issues. Sweet.

The man has always been, is now, and will continue to be an embarrassment to the political process. He's a right wing loon.

Looks like it taking out the garbage time. It appears the tea party types see the writing on the wall and have no future in Congress.

I think the Feds already Did that with Jesse Jackson jr. But don't worry the Demos have the Convicted Sex offender Mel Reynolds to run for his Office. Plus they even have the Felon Banks from out of Detroit. Wonder how that Writing on the Wall looks.....huh?
