'Everyone in US under virtual surveillance' - NSA whistleblower

The FBI records the emails of nearly all US citizens, including members of congress, according to NSA whistleblower William Binney. In an interview with RT, he warned that the government can use this information against anyone.

RT: And itís not just about those, who could be planning, who could be a threat to national security, but also those, who could be justÖ
WB: Itís everybody. The Naris device, if it takes in the entire line, so it takes in all the data. In fact they advertised they can process the lines at session rates, which means 10-gigabit lines. I forgot the name of the device (itís not the Naris) Ė the other one does it at 10 gigabits. Thatís why they're building Bluffdale [database facility], because they have to have more storage, because they canít figure out whatís important, so they are just storing everything there. So, emails are going to be stored there in the future, but right now stored in different places around the country. But it is being collected Ė and the FBI has access to it.

RT: You mean itís being collected in bulk without even requesting providers?

    WB: Yes.

    This isn't new.

Years ago, i was flipping through channels and going past CSPAN i saw a guy in a uniform with a logo behind him.

The eye in the pyramid from the dollar bill with a beam shooting out of the eye encompassing the globe.

Total Informational Awareness. The guy was Poindexter.

Iirc, congress shut it down but they just changed the name and moved it to another location.

    Carnivore is another name iirc.

Yep. Of course our intel agencies are going to use these data mining tools to monitor "subversive" activities and it makes it quite easy to follow dangerous nuts as well as to allow far fewer agents to monitor far more things. No longer must one translate analog voice cellphone/landline/radio data into digital format, the internet/social network sites to that for them now. This is nothing new at all, after all where did the internet initially come from? Yep, the gov't gave it to us. Many are volunteering to be watched, advertising their contacts and even making it super simple for gov't agents to add themselves as "friends" to get in on the future plans as well. It is every spy's dream come true.

Yea, Stalin would be proud, and I am pissed. But here is my problem with this. During the Bush administration, Republicans told me to shut up and be a patriot when I brought this subject up. Yea, Obama doing this is anti-American, but I submit to you that Republicans are not only anti-American, by grade A hypocrites too. The ONLY reason they bring this up is becuase the other guys get to do it, and when they are in office, they think it's perfectly OK, and even dare to call people who are against it unAmerican.

So yes, this smacks of Stalinism, whether it is a Democrat or a Republican in the White House. But you never jumped all over the Republicans when they were doing it, did you? That tells me one hell of a lot about your motive, which is not to decry something that goes against what America stands for, but political posturing instead, for the sake of politics over country and what is right.
