No Fiscal Deal Without Higher Tax Rates On Rich, Obama Says

So your are says Buffett doesnt know what he is talking about either because he pretty much said the exact same thing. Tax breaks are hand outs. Medicare, Medicade, SS, and other social services are not hand outs they are paid into over time so who really doesnt understand what a handout is I thing that would be you.

Allowing me to keep what is rightfully my own is not a handout. Unless, of course, you believe that every time a thief robs you he is doing you a favor.

Buffett is a power hungry clown. He wants people like you to worship him when he plays games that don't hurt his standing as one of the richest men in the country while his proposed plans screw the moderately wealthy

how am I getting a handout until I pay less than average.

she apparently believes that all wealth belongs to the government first

Same could be said about what you and turtle say are hand out do we not pay for them. I also find it funny that Republicans are screaming about a debt they had a heavy hand in running up. Once Clinton and a few smart Republicans got together and fixed the problem. We had eight years of a bunch of retards run up the debt again. They same "Reagan" Republicans. You know those that pray at the alter of a man that tripled the debt while in office and say that he was fiscal conservative. I find it funny the Republicans try to rewrite history. Personal I think we should tax the hell out of every Republican until 75% of the debt is paid after all Republicans caused 3/4 quarters of the mess. I think Dems would be happy to fork over the last 25%.

How long did we have these tax cuts? Long enough for them to effect the economy in such a way that remove them would cause a serious change

Yes, they did effect the economy in a serious way.
The way our economy was effected was not in a good way and we do need a serious change to help rebuild our economy.

■The Bush tax cuts have contributed to revenues dropping in 2004 to the lowest level as a share of the economy since 1950,
and have been a major contributor to the dramatic shift from large projected budget surpluses to projected deficits as far as the eye can see.[/B]

■The tax cuts have conferred the most benefits, by far, on the highest-income households — those least in need of additional resources — at a time when income already is exceptionally concentrated at the top of the income spectrum.

■The design of these tax cuts was ill-conceived, resulting in significantly less economic stimulus than could have been accomplished for the same budgetary cost. In part because the tax cuts were not as effective as alternative measures would have been, job creation during this recovery has been notably worse than in any other recovery since the end of World War II.

If the Administration’s latest tax proposals — which would make permanent most of the tax cuts enacted in 2001 and 2003 and establish new tax cuts on top of that — are enacted, the long-term results are likely to be even more troubling. Over the next 10 years, total tax-cut costs will equal $3.9 trillion, reaching nearly $600 billion or 3.3 percent of the economy in 2014 alone. (These calculations include the effects of the higher interest payments caused by the tax cuts.) The resulting higher deficits will slow future economic growth, saddle future generations with sizable interest payments, and leave the nation ill-prepared not only for the retirement of baby boomers but also for responding to potential future crises — from security matters to natural or environmental disasters — the particulars of which are unknown today.

Pressure to reduce these deficits will mount. Because the tax cuts are so tilted toward the highest-income households — and become even more so over time, as some of the upper-income tax cuts phase-in — the burden of financing these lopsided tax cuts ultimately is likely to be borne disproportionately by households who gain only modestly from the tax cuts.
This will be the case unless offsetting spending cuts or tax increases are enacted that reduce benefits or raise taxes primarily on high-income households.
As a result, over the long term most Americans may well be net losers from the tax cuts.

My goodness Tara....Thank goodness you came along...I always thought this site was short on snarky, hate filled, one way progressive liberals that are jealous of success, and take out their failure in life on everyone that doesn't agree with them....What's the matter? DailyKOS get boring for ya?

So being insulting, is fair to you eh....Go away Joe.

No. I'm asking a questioned based solely on what's has transpired. You do seem to be misreading.

I dont think either he or I were referring to SS as a handout. Medicare/medicaid is a different story since even though people pay into the system, they take out 3x what they paid in. But I think you should be able to figure out what a handout is and what it isnt.

You realize, of course, that Obama added more debt in 4 years than Bush did in 8, right? So does that make Obama twice the 'retard?'

No, you're kind of being a jerk right now, so keep it up and I'll just go ahead and report it....

Lol yet you want the poor to pay down a debt Republicans and the wealthy created? Reagans tax cut caused massive debt even though congress got it stopped he still tripled the debt. Bush blew it out of the water with his tax break that only benefited the rich and the went to war twice without paying for it I wonder who made a fortune off those wars and tax cuts certianly wasnt middle America

Yes I do because he had to to get us out of the mess Republicans created? Lol are who is in denying history now?

That's your choice j. I mean nothing more than I've stated. How would you suggest I approach it when you misread something? I'm open to suggestions.

stop fibbing-its the middle class that drives congressional spending. its the middle and lower classes (ie net tax consumers) who have the most votes.

so you are saying Bush't tax cuts only helped the rich

THAN WHY DOES YOUR MASTER OBAMA WANT TO KEEP THEM IN PLACE FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS

If the tax cuts were so great for the middle class how come the income diparity increased and the rich got richer. Now explain that to me Middle income went slightly down under Bush while the income for the top exploded.

The Bush tax cuts disproportionately helped the rich more than the middleclass.
President GW Bush cut the tax bills of the rich by much bigger dollar amounts than the tax bills of everyone else.

uh that is because the rich pay far more of the taxes but the Bush rates mean that the RICH PAY A HIGHER SHARE OF THE INCOME TAX BURDEN THAN THEY DID BEFORE THEM

do you realize how STUPID your post is? if the top 5% pay more than HALF THE FEDERAL INCOME TAX a tax cut is going to mean that 5% gets more cuts than those who pay ALMOST NOTHING.

yeah the bush tax rates have lasted longer than any tax rates since the start of the RWR administration

Sure are going to miss them, aren't you?

ultimately its people like you who are going to starve when the house of cards collapses and the rich stop paying for your food

The house of cards known as trickle down economics already collapsed, what you see happening now is the nation rebuilding from the ruble left in the wake.
