If he took the time to thank the coaches for all they had done to help him and they never felt in danger, this does not sound like a crime of passion.

I agree that there is more to it.

I think by his actions of going to the stadium and thanking his coach and general manager suggest this guy had some troubles that brought him to this ugly finale. I just know from a personal account in which my grandfather and shot and killed a sheriff that first reaction is not always accurate. BTW my grandfather got acquitted in court as the sheriff was a SOB.

You mean the guy who played a game for a living and made huge amounts of money for doing so felt sad? Oh give me a break. I have the same to say about this that i did about kurt nobrain wacking himself. If you cannot find happiness with millions of dollars and a job that involves playing then you are are doing it wrong. If you want to quit the game with everything going for you then do it and stop taking out other people. Just don't tell me i have to care or give sympathy to the man and the screw ups who raised such a defective person.

What more do you want aside from the guy was broken? Just because you are broken does not give you the right to start taking out people who are OK. You make millions in a sport where every drug or substance available to mankind is available to you. You want us to feel sad because someone didn't force it down his throat? There comes a certain point where you just cannot do so much for that sort of person and they either get help or go kill themselves.

Selfish because suicide is the ultimate act of selfishness. Nothing and no-one matters to the suicide more than their own inner pain. To take others' lives in the process is also selfish in the implicit assumption that for them to live on without you is worse than dying. That's greedy too. You can't have them, so nobody else can either.

You really have zero understanding of mental illness do you, and to be so brash, and abrasive in attacking not only the victims of this tragedy, but the victim's parents as well? That's just deplorable....Do me a favor, and don't respond to my postings anymore, you have nothing to offer but vitriol, and hatred. Go away.

Someone suffering from severe depression, possibly hallucinations auditory, or visual don't think in terms of selfish v. rational behavior. These are pitfalls to an uneducated opinion of suicide that we are only now starting to understand.

They had repeated head hits before the NFL developed its concussion protocol. In fact, they had more because there were more legal hits and the helmets weren't as good as they are today. We also had lots of guns. Life goes on for most of us, just as it always has. So will the NFL.

Something to look at for sure, but this player was I think only 4 years into his career. I think at this point just knee jerking a response that it happened because of helmet to helmet contact, and the long term effects of concussions is only a way to avoid the bigger discussion of mental illness in our society, and how little we pay attention to it.

We also had lots of guns.
So? The availability of gun ownership in our society has nothing to do with the result in that, if it weren't a gun it may have been a knife, or a bat, or a tire iron....Should we ban bats?

Life goes on for most of us, just as it always has. So will the NFL.
So, a big "eh, so what?" huh? We should just mark it off as a happenstance of life, and not even address this country's dismal record of attention to mental health?
