Obama, Romney to meet for lunch at White House | Fox News


President Obama will host his former political rival Mitt Romney for a private lunch at the White House Thursday, their first meeting since the election.Obama promised in his victory speech earlier this month to engage with Romney following their bitter campaign and consider the Republican's ideas.
"In the weeks ahead, I also look forward to sitting down with Gov. Romney to talk about where we can work together to move this country forward," Obama said at the time.
Obama aides said they reached out to Romney's team shortly before Thanksgiving to start working on a date for the meeting. The two men will meet in the White House's private dining room, with no press coverage expected.

hopefully, to exchange some ideas about fixing the budget crisis.

Romney was right on at least one concept : Romney $17,000 Deduction Limit Part of Three-Cap Concept - Bloomberg

in my opinion, we should also cap the amount that one can claim as investment income before it is taxed like regular income.

if we enact some policies like that, it would probably be unnecessary to raise the individual rates at all, and they might even be able to cut corporate taxes down to a point where we're competitive with Europe.

Romney should be given a plate of crow. The President can dine on pheasant. When the menu is released to the press it will simply say POULTRY.
 
At least Romney will finally be able to take a seat in the Oval Office.

So the President can say "Suck it, Mitt. I won." since he has run out of Beltway republicans to say it to.

Beyond that, I am sure someone will run out in front of the cameras and say "See Obama is bi-partisan--he ate lunch with a republican without even puking, so give us everything we want on this fiscal cliff thingy and we will give you all the pixie sticks you want a year from now. You can trust us because we didn't even poison Mitt to get his estate tax." I am certain that will be the total summation of Dr. Rachel Maddow's in-depth analysis.

this. Obama would be wise to ask mitt to chair a panel to make recommendations to eliminate loopholes in the tax code. who better than mitt to know where they are hidden
