Hello guys :)

We are celebrating our 100th year of independence. Thought I should share it since it is mainstream media here and this is a political forum.

I feel great for being able to share this now freely across the world. Hello other independent countries, this is us here celebrating:

We're all very happy for you. Whoo Hoo, Albania!

How can I get one of those bunkers that are all over the place? I'm not a prepper or anything, I just dig **** like that.

Great! I didn't know it had been 100 years. Hopefully 100 more.

Thanks. I just heard your congressman Elliot Angel congratulating us for 100 years of independence saying that we are USA's best friend and vice versa. As for those, if you are capable of carrying them back to USA, you can have them for free :).

The offer is limited edition though, it can only last another 10 hours!!! So hurry up!!!

werent u guys conquered for a few years by the italians before WW2?

So you mean that may have interrupted the continuity of being independent? That is not how it works. Then France also has only 70 years of independence or so since it was conquered from Germany in WW2.

They fought and got liberated, we did also. Ever since declaring independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912 until now still fighting on.

Speaking of being conquered though, these lands have been conquered from antiquity till now from:Roman Empire, Gothics, Huns, Byzantine Empire, Germans, Bulgarians, Rus', Ottoman Empire, Greece, Serbs, Italy, Germany, and still standing today. I wonder who has remained.

But trying to put that behind and move on now.

Oh well. I don't mean to ruin your celebration.

Not at all Rainman :) Thank you for participating in my thread. Whomever has questions I am here to answer.

To update: On a joint Kosovar Albanian and German architectural project, an interesting structure was built in that resembles the traditional castle like homes of Albanians:

Munich Architects to Build Albania's Centennial Memorial :: Balkan Insight

Various songs, traditional wearings are all outside such as those above. Perhaps some of you could make it for the next year celebrities maybe?

I do not want to sound crass or anything or offensive. But awhile back there was a movie made here called Wag the Dog. Have you seen it and if you have what did you think about it?

Basically it is a comedy about how a group of consultants for a less than perfect President try and deflect his romantic activities by creating a fake war against your country.

If you don't like this post or don't want to comment thats fine.

I just think its rather interesting that our country can make such movies without any blowback from the 'target" country. But it was a comedy

Lotta Muslims in Albania, aren't there?

Steven Swartz wrote a good article about how Albanians allow every religion to worship in their country:

Stephen Schwartz: How Albania's Religious Mix Offers an Example for the Rest of the World

Here's an excerpt:

It has been said often that small nations may produce great ideas. Albania and Kosovo suffer economically, and Albanians in neighboring countries are objects of discrimination, but they maintain their dignity. For their example of cooperation between believers in different faiths, and people of no religious affiliation, they deserve the congratulations of the world in the 100th year of their independence.

Congratulation on 100 years of independence!

Sorry for not responding until now. I tend to check the notification bar up there and my post was not quoted so...

I think the movie is great. I think why there wasn't any blowback is that because the authors of the movie recognized that we would consider the idea bizzare and thus funny. Such a concept of attacking Albania from USA is not really a concern, a fragile anxious point after which a movie would cause us to cry out laud such as what Iran or North Korea does for instance. It was a good joke to choose Albania of all other countries in Europe as a target to hide a presidents hidden affairs.

I also liked that it mentioned that James Belushi is an AA (in this case Albanian American). Also Kosova's city Gjakova is mentioned in the movie "the Hunted" with Tommy Lee Johnes and Benecio Del Toro. In the city Aaron loses it after seeing atrocities committed there.

I think the more Albanians are mentioned along Americans the better. There should always be an Albanian in the backscreen somewhere in any movie in a friendly, supportive, or even secondary role in my opinion.

No actually, the country has mixed religions of Catholic/Christianity, Muslims, and (mind you how I differentiate this point) orthodox Christianity (which is different from Catholic Christianity). This is so because for centuries Dardania was torn between Western Christian Roman Catholic and Eastern Byzantine Orthodox Christianity powers to its own demise. On top of that and on those premises was conquered after a severe battle to stop the Ottoman Empire from conquering Europe and thus spread Islam. It eventually fell only after a military genius named Skenderbeu died (and after 10 years after his death) caused the Ottoman Empire to bring in Islam to these parts, and ending the place with three religions.

Kosova though is predominantly shallow Muslim. They in turn converted to Islam from Christianity since were abandoned from western powers to the ottoman empire that offered good benefits to converts such as not having to pay tax. It was a political move that now after its independence in 2008 the Islamic religious leaders are tearing their throats yelling in anger that support is falling for this religion (hence "shallow") since there is no more use for it.

Thanks d0gbreath :) . It was a very tough course that cost us many lives and many losses of our territories ever since the Pellasgian times (i.e., antiquity) but perhaps the future will be more productive with Europe being more integrated and hopefully more cooperative with USA.

I'm thinking that when the EU spreads all over the countries in Europe and it resembles its son across the ocean in USA, then perhaps the two could join and form an even greater empire?

Yes. Let's make an empire so strong that we can end war for all time.

Thanks for the response. Having worked for the uS federal government, I have a particular understanding of how 'real" this movie is. I thought DiNiro was great.

You left a secure US Federal Government job during recession?

EASW

European American States of the World.

We then would occupy the left half of the Risk...I mean world map. But as much as it is tempting to call it that, the rest of the world may feel threatened by this name that states that their lands should also fall to EASW.

Any other names out there?

Id go with a simple EUSA since Union and United are basically the same. But that would be too simple for this divine invention.

NO I left in 1989 or go to jail. My boss was hiding our inspection reports in her desk which was a violation of Federal environmental law which also stated that if such reports were not delivered to the appropriate agency for action the writers were equally lable.

All 5 in my unit quit and went immediately to our local congressman and the FBI. The FBI promptly lost the files and the Congressman tried to get something going but was voted out of office soon afterward. After that no one would do anything.

I then went to work for the State of Michigan and left there in 2001 to take care of my Autistic son

Huh! Look at that! I thought that corruption occurs only around these parts!

Whatever you found must be something big. Bigger than the congressman for sure!

Corruption and nepotism really damages our countries. It is so hard to fight its spreading' for it is difficult to identify and do a major response against it.

Still for what its worth, I hope you are well with your son, for what you all did is very brave. Wish there were more of those than corruption.

It was not that it was BIG. it was the DOD I worked for and we found violations everywhere we went. This was not news since ABC and CBS had recently done a teledocumentary on several DOD bases in Colorado and Arkansas. Remember this was the Reagan Administration.

So violations on the department of defense are done and when captured at best (if lucky) the issue is told to average Joe to handle it through media. Somehow this doesn't seems to work. What can ordinary people do when even the FBI fails?
