Albania is celebrating its 100th Year of Independence

Empire of the West! I like that.

Australia, Canada and New Zealand could join too, if they wanted.

But where would the capital be?

Why! Schomewhere in Schcotland! Where else?! ;)

Try "cold water" area during summer in Vlora beaches  . I have seen many hundreds of Brits while I was out there.

It is also a historical city. If interested in history though, and would like to hear it chronologically, then the first stop is Prizren, Dardania, and then Vlora.

Cheers.
For me history would be the most fascinating aspect, but I could use a couple days at the beach, too.

I could play my part on your trip for history should you come to Dardania. You could then find a professional ciceron at Vlora to continue with history (i.e., part 2) as well as have access to the beaches then :)

Here, we wrote a song about Albania....

28th of November, we are celebrating Albania's independence day again.

I am trying to get a hold of the Albanian flag raised all the way to China! I wished to present that to you here for this day. But perhaps more links will be available tomorrow! :(

Congratulations DDD. Wishing all Albanians Peace and Prosperity :)

Hello guys :)

We are celebrating our 100th year of independence. Thought I should share it since it is mainstream media here and this is a political forum.

I feel great for being able to share this now freely across the world. Hello other independent countries, this is us here celebrating:

Been there twice, some of the best seafood I've ever had was in Durress.

One of the funniest names for a gas station was in Albania too... Kastrati or something similar.

Why! The benefits of multiculturalism: If you did not mention this I probably would have never noticed it?!

Sounds like to "castrate," right?

Go ahead and upload. :)

Kastrati is an Albanian surname. It is similar to Kastrioti which is the surname of Gjergj Kastrioti - Skenderbeu, the legendary Albanian leader whom stood against the whole Ottoman Empire.

Was an interesting couple of trips... met a member of parliament, some business leaders, and got to see a fair bit of coastal Albania.

One thing that blew me away was one of the plants, a common wetland plant called Juncus, or Binse in German speaking countries. The varieties I had seen up to that time grew to a maximum height of 30 to 50cm (1 to 1.5ft). In Albania these things were 1.5m (4.5ft) and taller.

The funniest or perhaps most accurate name for a gas station, as that's what government has done to a lot of people with their fuel taxes all around the world:

Dardania is celebrating it's 7th year of independence today :)

The media is flooded with songs and images with our and our allied flags such as this one:

I am wearing my Plis (i.e., the traditional Albanian hat, see Avatar) for real throughout the day today :)
