The plural of anecdote is not data. You have no idea what crime rates are doing. You just went and assumed they must be increasing because OBAMA BAD.

Crime rates have decreased lately. In 2010, the violent crime rate was the lowest since 1971, the homicide rate the lowest since 1961, and the property crime rate the lowest since 1967.

You, sir, are guilty of truthiness. You want to just rant about how the president is the worst person since Satan? Go back to free republic. Here, you're going to get called out for making **** up.

When in doubt, double down on stupid. First you try and blame Obama for people steeling copper, even though it has been done forever. Then when that blows up in your face, instead of admitting you got it wrong, you shift to a new claim, that crime is up under Obama, even though it is not supported by any of the evidence you offer. In point of fact, there are statistics on crime rates, and they show the opposite of what you claim.

I had a really hard poo the other day that kind of hurt. God damn Obama.
 
Our neighbor told us that while the house we eventually purchased sat empty, a group of copper thieves who'd been monitoring the neighborhood managed to break in and knock out a wall near the plumbing "epicenter" in an effort to collect copper. Thankfully, the previous owner had an alarm system set up to silent-alarm upon break in. The cops showed up and arrested the assholes before they got to any copper (assuming there was any....:shrug:).

Not so thankfully, the previous owner did the wall repair themselves, and didn't do it very well. At least it's in an area hidden from normal view.

(P.S. sorry to disrupt the tone of the thread...please go back to blaming Obama, not blaming Obama, etc :2razz:)

copper crime has been going on since copper skyrocketed a while back,but going back thousands of years copper has always been a precious metal,based off its availability and usefullness,this is why going back to ancient times up until the international abandonment of the precious metal standard,it has been used as lesser coins.

as long as copper holds such high value,it will be stolen,the problem with no punishment comes from local law enforcement and local laws.here in texas stealing scrap steal or aluminum is a slap on the wrist,but stealing copper or anything that contains large amounts of copper is a serious crime.down here the big one isstealing window ac units,that are easy to swipe and contain around 60 bucks in copper,its been so badifyou bring ac parts or units,you have to have proof of working in the ac industry or have a letter from a private investigator.

This has been happening as long as I can remember all around the country. Quit acting like a little child just because no one believes your lies that Obama had anything to do with this.

My father in law works for AT&T. For the last decade that I've known him he has told me about all of the cables that get stolen from job sites because people go a hawk them as scrap copper for money. People in the really bad areas down in new orleans actually chain down their AC unit outside because people started stealing them for he copper inside. And this was a practice from well before Obama.

**** has been getting stolen well before we had Obama as a president. Quit trying to blame him for it. You sound ridiculous.

since ive been in texas ive never seen a cat stolen,but when i was in cali if you parked a car high enough off the ground to slide under,your cats would be gone when you got back.they would also slide a drain bucket under your gas tank and drill a holein it,cuz apparently siphoning is toomuch effort these days.

Er, hey, not saying I've ever siphoned gas or nothin.....I mean, look, I got a car that's carbed...so....when it runs out, the only way to get gas running back through again is via vacuum, which is produced by a motor running, which, if it aint running....it's produced by YO MOUTH.
 
Ok, went back and re read from the start of the thread. I honestly put myself in the shoes of Obama supporters reading this, and further just plain anyone reading it, and it was wrong. Void of logic. I formally rescind the thread.
 
When a twitchy guy in a rusted pick up shows up at the metal yard with guardrails in the back of his truck this week and had bronze plaques from tombstones last week, I dare say the metal yard cannot say with straight face there was no way they knew he was selling them stolen goods. They just hope to get it processed before the cops come around looking. I have read more than one story about people being killed trying to steal live electric lines, apparently knowing they were hot. America's investment in its education system has produced some real geniuses.

siphoning I'd imagine are dying off because gas caps often require opening from inside the car.

Earlier this year here in Santa Fe they busted a ring of criminals that were stealing cats off cars.

I will give them this--they save me money. My city charges a fortune to pick up appliances and are very peculiar about what they will or won't pick up with the garbage. I can just set most of the crap out on the curb and it will be gone within a few hours thanks to the metal hunters. They will take anything that has metal anywhere in it.
