It just reaffirms my fervent support for birth control, early abortion and adoption being arranged early

As usual, the United Nations doesn't understand the concept of how human rights work and is going to do more harm than good. I sincerely hope that the European Parliament does the right thing here and tells them to butt out of this.
This is a long standing tradition in many countries and I think its appauling that the UN is getting into this.

BTW. In England, these children were commonly given the last name of Temple since they were dropped off in churchs

There are no such boxes in the UK, nor are there any such plans. Hence the need for the BBC to first explain what they were to a British audience.

Other than not literally having boxes, I am pretty sure we have some system like that is places in the US where people can drop off a baby it hospital/police stations and such no questions asked to avoid the newborn in the bathroom trashcan thing....

Didn't some state have this and people were ditching their teenagers and such?

Is this really the most earthshaking problem the UN feels it must immediately tackle? I mean, really?

Civil wars raging in Africa, Syria, Pakistan with its finger on the nuclear trigger and eyeing India with a "bring it, bro'" expression, Iran getting ready to create the means to "wipe Israel off the face of the map"... and the UN decides to go after those horrid "baby boxes" for abdoned infants so their cracked-out, crapped-out or otherwise desperate mothers don't just pop them in a plastic bag and head for the nearest dumpster... THIS is the global crisis to which the UN turns its attention.

The only thing the UN is good for is being a swirling cesspool of corruption and money laundering.

Yeah, we got those. We call them schools.
I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

That sounds familiar, so I think you may be right.
