A House committee has launched an investigation into whether EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson used an email alias to try to hide correspondence from open-government requests and her agency’s own internal watchdog — something that Republican lawmakers said could run afoul of the law.The science committee has asked Ms. Jackson to turn over all information related to an email account under the name of “Richard Windsor,” which is one of the aliases identified by a researcher looking into the EPA.
The committee has also asked the White House’s lawyer and EPA’s inspector general to look into the matter and report back by the end of this month, saying that the secret email accounts could have been used to keep key information from official watchdogs as well as the public.

Just a little update of the "most transparent administration in history".... What a joke, these Chicago thugs are probably the most corrupt administration in history. This President, and these progressives don't give a damn about the Constitution, or what anyone of opposition has to say about it...They are liars, and tin pot authoritarians....

History laughs at this statement.

Wow, smarts, and a crystal ball....Tell me Star, did you read the story, or just knee jerk out a response because you don't like your messiah being called out on corruption?

I'm laughing at the thought that this is the most corrupt administration in our countries history. To claim this just reeks of either intense partisanship, a lack of historical understanding, or both.

Please tell me of another administration that watched Americans die, then lied about it to save their election prospects? But that is another thread....As far as this thread, are you condoning the use of secret email accounts by the EPA?

Do you actually want people to take you seriously when you post? Then you might want to dispense with what youstar pointed out in your OP and the bolded part I'm pointing out in this post.

Seeing how you then step into propagating conspiracy theories, I guess you are opting to not be taken seriously.

Unless I see concrete evidence of wrong doing, I don't believe any wacky conspiracy theory the Republicans try to drudge up. The GOP is lossing credibility by coming out with all these lame charges of wrong doing. Todd Akin made a joke of the science committee. This will be another dead end accusation in which those who want to believe it will and the rest of the world will just view the GOP as if they have lost their minds.

What conspiracy theory are you talking about? How is Congress asking the EPA for info a conspiracy theory?

j-mac has utterly jumped the shark.

j-mac has utterly jumped the shark.

In September, Horner and CEI filed a lawsuit against the EPA, asking the U.S. District Court to order them to produce record regarding “‘secondary,’ non-public email accounts for EPA administrators, the existence of which accounts Plaintiff discovered in an Agency document obtained under a previous [Freedom of Information Act] request” which the EPA says were known only to a “few EPA staff members, usually only high-level senior staff.”

You know, when a (R) does something wrong, most often you see the other (R) condemning them... not the case with (D)'s. It seems whatever their 'guys' do, is ok with them.

In this case, transparency is very much important, because a government that is hiding what it is doing is a danger to it's citizens. And it is true that these extra email accounts exist, as they were mentioned in a EPA document.

Oh please. The article, from a right leaning rag, claims the EPA has been passing information around in a secret email account. The congressman asking questions is a Tea Party member. I can already see another made up scandal starting to form. The EPA is an agency the right wing would love to get rid of.

Oh, well, then. If the member of Congress is also a "Tea Party" person, that's proof positive that there's a conspiracy.

Another that will do anything to defend their 'guy'.. To restate: "non-public email accounts for EPA administrators, the existence of which accounts Plaintiff discovered in an Agency document obtained under a previous [Freedom of Information Act] request"

What proof do you have that this story is true? There have been so many stories that ended up being untrue and baseless. So far it's just speculation, but I welcome yet another hearing that costs the tax payers more money. If something comes of this story then I will be the first to say I was wrong, but the GOP keeps accusing the Obama administration of wrong doing and nothing comes of these accusations.

People? or Liberals? See, you think that you can post something like this and tell me what, or how I should characterize a political figure that I am posting about, while at the same time telling me my message should conform to your standard so as not to offend you or other libs? Wow, that takes some large set.....

What proof do you have that this story is true?

Wait a minute here....Now there is supposed to be conclusive proof of wrongdoing, in this case the email accounts that fly under the wire of their own agency watchdog, without the benefit of being allowed to see these email accounts? Are you joking here?

Hey, I have an idea, lets not try murder cases anymore either, they can be expensive....What kind of crapola is that?

If something comes of this story then I will be the first to say I was wrong, but the GOP keeps accusing the Obama administration of wrong doing and nothing comes of these accusations.

Maybe if the Obama crime organization would cease thwarting our laws, and constitution they wouldn't raise these suspicions...But if I read you right, and I think I do, because you are quite clear in a number of posts in this thread, that is your position seems to be that oversight is only a good thing when it is to oversee republicans.

You know, when a (R) does something wrong, most often you see the other (R) condemning them...

No. I most often see excuses being made, attention being misdirected, or the integrity of the investigators being attacked -- "If this was one of your guys, you wouldn't be doing this!"

Maddening isn't it? Wrong is wrong, and when an oversight committee is being thwarted in their requests on behalf of the people, all because of party affiliation is jaw dropping, and if allowed to succeed then we have another big problem to add to the rest of the problems this administration is cooking.

The existence of a private e-mail account is not proof that it was used for government business or to thwart transparency.

A request for all information related to a private e-mail account is not proof that it was used for government business or to thwart transparency.

A request that the use of a private e-mail account be investigated is not proof it was used for government business or to thwart transparency.

You do not have proof this private e-mail account was used for government business or to thwart transparency.

Apparently you are comfortable throwing accusations around, making reference to Chicago politics, and painting "these progressives" with a broad brush even before there's any actual proof of wrong-doing.

Typical behavior of the species Americanus Politica Trucidabunt.

Yeah. Just like characterizing someone's supposed behavior even before there's even an iota of evidence of that behavior is wrong.

Would you agree that the request to see the email accounts is to determine whether anything is there or not?

Absolutely. A request for information is ... a request for information. It is not proof of wrongdoing, which is how you were treating it.

When a police officer asks to see my license, he wants to see my license -- he is not accusing me of being without one.

Then it makes sense logically that if the request itself is being demonized as everything from conspiracy, to opposition hackery, then something suspicious is happening right?

No. The demonization of the request makes exactly as much sense as what you are doing.
