There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers
It will be interesting to see the decisions businesses are going to make this year and how it will affect them in the long run. Eventually all the hype over the ACA will be gone. Just like every law that gets passed.
Scientific fact: If you took all of the veins from your body and laid them end to end, you would die.
If there's a god, damn it she won't mind.
If there's a god, baby she won't mind.
If we compared tax rates between now, with Obamacare, and before the Bush tax cuts, when do you think they were higher?
I'm going to start posting this question in every single thread that comes up with "Owner/company x does y asshole thing because of Obamacare"
"I do not claim that every incident in the history of empire can be explained in directly economic terms. Economic interests are filtered through a political process, policies are implemented by a complex state apparatus, and the whole system generates its own momentum."
Here is why...
Unemployment is high. These people might look, but you think the other restaurants will take them on in this economy. Doh... Noooooooooooo.
And... the others are most likely contemplating their own actions... they'll certainly pass on the costs.
If you know anything about the F&B (Foord & Beverage) business... there is no money in food! Increased costs will be passed on to customers across America.
People will lose jobs and be put on part-time. That is how the game is played. Government makes dumb rules... people makes ways around them.

I AM DEPLORABLE.
NEVER CRIMINAL HILLARY (S-NY)
Oh..and for the record...it will NEVER be 'the government providing healthcare'. When (when...because it will happen) we move to Universal Healthcare, everyones taxes are going to go up. People might as well shelve their outrage and upset at employers raising costs. The government actions will mirror the actions of employers that raise costs to pay for the new forced mandates and when it happens, the same people talking **** about employers raising costs to pay for it will applaud the government tax increases to provide more 'free' government services.
Stuff like this is going on EVERYWHERE. We'll be laying off 15 percent of our company on December 1st, and just about everyone I know is making similar adjustments in the next 30-90 days. Likewise, we've called off plans to roll out two new product lines.
The economy is about to absolutely tank, but at least Obama has World War III brewing in the Middle East right now. There's the source for new jobs.
