On Fox News Sunday, conservative pundit and Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol warned the GOP that “elections have consequences” and it shouldn’t “fall on its sword” in defense of lower taxes for millionaires.“The leadership in the Republican Party and the leadership in the conservative movement has to pull back, let people float new ideas,” Kristol said. “Let’s have a serious debate. Don’t scream and yell when one person says, ‘You know what? It won’t kill the country if we raise taxes a little bit on millionaires.’ It really won’t, I don’t think.”
“I don’t really understand why Republicans don’t take Obama’s offer to freeze taxes for everyone below $250,000 — make it $500,000, make it a million,” Kristol argued. “Really? The Republican Party is going to fall on its sword to defend a bunch of millionaires, half of whom voted Democratic and half of them live in Hollywood?”

Holy ****! Are some conservatives actually opening their eyes? Are they finally banking away from this "no taxes on the rich" bull****? Are they finally gonna sacrifice the interests of the richest of the rich for the rest of the American public?

sacrifice their interests? rich people paying an extra few % of their incredible wealth per year won't sacrifice diddly squat.

Yep. The republicants have decided to agree with the demorats and see that getting 8 days worth of new federal revenue, possibly aided by cutting 8 days worth of federal spending to match that "massive amount" will be the magical fix to spur the private economy into instant growth mode and (eventually) balance the budget. The remaining 349 days at 38% deficit spending will no longer matter, since the huge economic "Obama boom" will wipe that minor deficit out within just a few centuries, possibly sooner if the CBO gets the right input spoon fed to it.

I would be willing to compromise.
The difference between the additional tax revenue brought in by allowing the top tier
of the *Obama tax cut to expire and the deficit is about $1.1 Trillion.
*( Obama signed the current tax rates into law in 2010)
I think the ratio was 16:1, So if the Democrats cut $16. from the budget for each additional
dollar raised by the new taxes, I am ON BOARD.

In that case, it won't kill the country to reduce their taxes either.

It's a question... do you want to embrace and foment Parasite Nation or do you want to fight for a government free of fomenting class warfare?
Hell... let Parasite Nation take it all.

What was wrong with 28% as agreed to by Democrats back in Reagan's years?

Perhaps, but none of them have been elected to Congress, and anyway a tax on millionaires is not going to bring in enough bucks to even come close to balancing the budget anyway.

So, we're still screwed, Congress is still dysfunctional, and the likelihood still is that we'll go over the fiscal cliff in January with the two parties still pointing fingers at each other and ranting.

At least, that's my optimistic view of the situation.

Now that Obama can't get re-elected again, they have more flexibility. The goal before was to make him a one-termer. Since that failed, maybe say you're ok with the raise, then run against it in '16.

Since when is a decision being good, based on the fact that it "will not directly kill you or the country?" You could raise taxes on everyone or no one, and that would still be true.

The fact is you want federal benefits and you demand someone else pay for them because you have no interest in doing what it takes to earn it yourself. That's it, nothing more to be said.

When a patient is hemorrhaging, adding new blood is one answer, but you should
probably stop the blood flow first.

You should probably stop the bleeding and give a transfusion to replace the blood that's already been lost.

Meh.. Skip the millionaires and go straight to the Billionaires.. They have more to take.

That or just raise taxes on everyone that voted for raising taxes(obama).

They have that on the record.

In that case, it won't kill the country to reduce their taxes either.
What?

"Parasite Nation"? "Class warfare"?

Hell... let Parasite Nation take it all.
What?

Lets see here when your government is not bringing in enough revenue and you want to get rid of the debt and deficit lowering taxes especially on the richest is not the answer. Plus thats when the deficit exploded was under these tax rates.

So are you done using all these rhetoric?

That's when the deficit started blowing up out of control.

Democrats did not do as they agreed... to cut spending.
Reagan's tax cuts generated more tax revenue... there was full employment and wages increased... and the Dems spent it all and more.

You do know what Baseline Budgeting is?

The Great Society.
The Fair Deal.
ObamaKare. (Coming soon to a debt laden country near you).

PONZI SCHEMES... that will do to America what they did to NY Democrat Bernie Madoff.

Parasite Nation creating dependency... debt... and misery... everywhere it has been tried.

What?

"Parasite Nation"? "Class warfare"?

What?

thems some pretty facts sir. but fox news and talk radio already made up his mind.

You should probably stop the bleeding and give a transfusion to replace the blood that's already been lost.
No, you should almost certainly stop the bleeding, transfusions may carry their own significant risks however. My physician took the chance of no-transfusion to avoid tranfusion related injury (blood-borne disease), and let me be anemic for some months to recoup naturally.

Can't go that far with such analogies.

C'mon man. Loose the rhetoric.... Its pathetic really.

That only seems to support what he is saying.
Wouldn't a better graph be deficit with the colors being which party held the house of Representatives.

I don't think so. Regardless of what the Republican rhetoric is they have been just as much of an influence as Democrats and the out of control spending.

Would you like to elaborate? Try your hand at making a full sentence with nouns and verbs?

"Parasite Nation"? "Class warfare"?
Yes... that's what you support. That's the purpose of graduated taxation. To divide people. To make them envious. To demand government thieve wealth for them.

Try a sentence. You sound like a Yenta.

Lower taxes, cut regulations, and watch unemployment melt. Cut government spending to the bone. Increased revenue and a smaller government will reduce our debt.

As I illustrated in Denmark and have stated before... taxes are used to inhibit behavior. To reduce it.

There is a study where people are given 10 dollars, and the one must give the other some... and they need negotiate this, and come to an agreement or they get nothing. The study showed people do not like to be screwed... even if it was free money. Some opted for nothing than having the feeling the other screwed them.

Obama has pissed in the mouth of the Golden Goose. And increasing taxes is going to make people who create jobs even more resentful. It's human nature.

Parasite nation is not uplifting, it is not positive, it is coercive, ham handed, heavy handed and spiteful. The current leader revealed that during the campaign. He won... but with scorched earth, and that is 100% different from the fraud that ran in 2008.

Parasite Nation need learn you don't piss in the mouth of the Golden Geese. Encourage them, encourage their kind... don't punish them.

I always think more information is better, the graph showed the accumulating debt vs which
party held the white house.
Spending originates in the House of Rep. and over spending is a deficit,
I would like to see who overspends more.
It would also be necessary to zero out the surplus funds liberated from Social security since 1967.

and the Senate, yes. The Congress still has the purse strings, even when they've untied them and are handing out cash by the handfuls.

Let the Bush tax cuts expire for those over $250,000, and you raise......drumroll please.....

$50 Billion/yr.

Only 5% of the yearly deficit. Brought to you by the party of one idea.
