TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran's vice president said Monday that Tehran will break the `grasping hands' of newly re-elected President Barack Obama, the official IRNA news agency reported.Mohammad Reza Rahimi also said Iran will overcome U.S.-led sanctions against the country.

"We will break grasping hands of Obama and we will be successful in bypassing the sanctions," Rahimi was quoted as saying during a research and scientific exhibition at Tehran University
Obama should remind Rahimi that sanctions are better than a cruise missle.

And do you take some sort of personal joy in reporting this? Is this a sign of hope for you? Do you see this as a positive sign which weakens your hated enemy?

No, but it obviously pisses you off good, an unexpected bonus.

Why would you say that? The only thing I noticed was your undisguised glee reveling in the jingoistic rantings of an enemy of America simply because you hope and pray that your own political enemies here will suffer.

That does not "piss me off" as you so eloquently put it, but rather simply disgusts me. There is a difference.

I can see that making this personal between you and me is a sign that you haven't grown up yet. Why don't you take your emotionalism and go see a counselor?

Just the opposite despite your efforts to make it personal. I could not care less about your own role in this. I merely reply to your post because are part of the right wing effort to take great glee in anything that might hurt the President because you yourselves were so woefully impotent to do your damage through the electoral process.

Its not about you American. Never was. Never will be. Its about the disease of right wing hate that your post personifies and illustrates.

Or perhaps it is about reality. Iran is determined to get the "respect" (and possibly the foreign aid cash) that the righteous nation of Pakistan now gets. The key difference between how we, the mighty USA, treat Pakistan and Iran is mostly that Pakistan has nukes. This may not be entirely true, but it certainly has the appearance of truth to many "impartial" observers. Pakistan gave safe harbor to UBL, and continues to harbor his brothers in arms that are killing our folks in Afghanistan, yet is our "friend and ally" and is getting billions in US foreign aid.

Nope. Simply the unfortunate realization that our enemies realize that we are soft.

Agreed! Pakistan is the enemy, not Iran. When will our politicians see through the smoke screen installed by GWShiiteForBrains, who chose Pakistan as our ally against all logic and reason. There was as much culpability involving Pakistan as Afghanistan regarding 9/11. Obtuse would accurately define our policy and the CIA probably initiated it. A. Q. Khan, the world's foremost nuclear terrorist walks the streets of Pakistan as a hero.

That's funny, the supporters of a terrorist group are not the enemy, and an ally is. Go figure.

You made this personal, I was talking about Iran and you decide to come in here and attack me.

Obama should remind Rahimi that sanctions are better than a cruise missle.

In fact the sanctions are kicking Iran's ass and are certainly doing more damage than any cruise missile.

Iran’s currency crisis will probably deepen the Islamic republic’s economic contraction this year by more than the International Monetary Fund had estimated, the fund’s Middle East chief said.

The IMF had forecast the Iranian economy would shrink 0.9 percent this year, while inflation would surge to a four-year high of 25.2 percent. The predictions are based on data from before the rial’s slump, which “will likely have a further negative impact on economic outcomes in the coming year,” Masood Ahmed, head of the Middle East and Central Asia department, said in an interview in Dubai yesterday.

The Iranian rial has dropped about 40 percent against the dollar since August, and while the central bank’s inflation rate for September was 24 percent, economists say the measure may be three times higher.

The rial has tumbled about 40 percent against the dollar since August as the U.S. and the European Union starve the country of foreign currency by blocking sales of oil, its main export. Crude output has plunged to the lowest in more than two decades.

But thanks for being the mouthpiece for the Iranians' propoganda machine.

But thanks for being the mouthpiece for the Iranians' propoganda machine.

Conservatives have never been mouthpieces for Iran, but someone like you would easily be.

Dude, YOU are a mouthpiece for Iran when you uncritically parrot their propoganda, as you've done in this thread.

I am not sure how this became a partisan thread. The initial comment makes sense. Living under our sanctions is much better than all-out war with America.

I think the message from the VP is shows that our policy is effective, and we are hitting them where it hurts. I don't agree with any of it, but the strategy seems to be effective.

They could sell all their oil directly to China instead of slipping into the stream of others headed toward the west.
