CIA Director Resigns

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

The CIA knew ahead of time that the Libyan Embassy was under threat and had requested protection. I think the Administrations Staff decided to deny the request in hopes that less military or CIA presence would buy them favor with the new ruling Libyans but it was a poor decision that cost innocent lives. Now they're tucking their tails and running in circles trying to obfuscate the truth in hopes the story will go away. How Patraeus and Clinton are mixed up in this I don't know but there's more to it than we're hearing.

Agreed, and I'm eager to hear the rest of the story. Now that there are some salacious details to savor, perhaps the lamestream press will pay attention and start doing their job.

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

A really messy personal life does not inspire confidence.

True, but Clinton got re-elected anyway.

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

People with no self control shouldn't have affairs.

But aren't those the very people most likely to have affairs?

Just watched the the Sunday morning shows. Believe the Petraeus resignation/"disgrace" just took a major shift.

My prediction. Petraeus is going to come out of this as the warrior (fallen) hero. Who was undermined and driven from office by politically motivated snaked-eyed Republicans (a.k.a Eric Cantor).

Gawd i luv a good scandal.....;)

IMO.. he's going to look very foolish for taken a nutjob as a mistress.

I think we can live adequately without General Betrayus.

Petraeus did not betray we, the people; he betrayed his spouse. His adultery, while it may diminish his character for many, emphatically does not diminish his distinguished service of his country.

Patreaus may have either fell on his sword for God and country or semi forced to resign as a cover or both. But he is already looking like the most honorable and truthful so far. Mistakes don't make you look less than human, not admitting to them does.

Don't disagree. Always been a fan of the guy and still am. And if he is getting a little strange poon on the side that is his personal family issue to deal with.

I was reflecting on Andrea Mitchell's report/claim this morning that none of this would have ever reached the public eye if Eric Cantor had not "forced the issue". Just projecting how the mainstream press is/may be going to run with it. ...

Well, it certainly made John Edwards look foolish.

This Andrea Mitchell?

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

I don't think there is any question that the general had an affair with that nutjob Broadwell... but I am not sure there is a tie to poor judgment re: embassy security.

However, if Petraius sent her a thousand emails after they broke up that makes him a nutjob as well.

A really messy personal life does not inspire confidence.

Pretty much the only way you can know what someone does in their bed is if you are underneath said bed when they are doing it. The rest is all hearsay. Even an admission is not absolute proof.

LOL. Of course they are! And I must compliment you on your ability to state the obvious most eloquently for the benefit of those who cannot even see the obvious!

Well, it certainly made John Edwards look foolish.

At least Edwards had looks going for him! A Washington pretty boy is sure to get lucky many tmes over. The general, not so much!

If you find Breck Girls attractive, yeah, Edwards has looks. I guess.

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

Dude.... have you ever used a government computer?

The use of government computers for personal use is NOT a very serious charge.......

Its only a very serious charge when it is politically convenient for those in power (im not talking of conspiracy theories in THIS case here, or even national politics for that matter).

If you read my post you would not be asking such a foolish question.

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

Dude, I spent 23 years in the Navy and now work for ONI. It's not illegal to email from a govt computer.

No offense but I don't care. WHat happened at DOD DLA happened as I described and just that way. DCIS monitored our e-mails to make sure they were not being abused.

My brother has worked for the VA for over 30 years and his are also monitored.

Maybe the rules are different for field personnel in the military. I can see that part

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

No liberals are troubled by the fact that Patreaus was personally compromised but it was covered for months and endangered national security for purely political reasons? He should have been pulled months ago. NOT three days after the election.

I guess this is the leadership we can expect.

Conspiracy crap. Since no one knows someone on the outside has to make up reasons to keep the fringe groups worked up.

I will wait for facts (if ever) and leave the conspiracy stuff to the fringe. Oswald did not work alone. Yeah right.

*LOL* you liberals are really funny .. I made no point other then pointing out that it seems that a lot of people are suddenly being dismissed , or moved since the bombings … I find that rather odd .

Why I bet you were defending Bush when he fired those 6 US attorneys as well calling it conspiracy crap as well …. *L* then again .. You were probably on the band wagon calling for investigations ..

You rush to defend when I made no allegations only shows the hack that you are.

Months ago?

When was Petraeus appointed head of the CIA?

When did Ms Broadwell threaten the other woman?

Re: CIA director Petraeus resigns over affair

You have never seen the White House have you? The place is huge. Being on grounds means nothing.

Oh come on now redress I know you are liberal... . but a fair one .. . that is a stretch ..even for you

I’m just amazed that Patreaus is even still around, I mean according to liberals a few years back .. Wasn’t he just another lying Bush mouth piece …. And that was being said
.. Before he ever testified before congress As I recall the leftist nut jobs hated the man … Move on dot org a liberal rag really pushed this … with full support of most liberals as I recall .

No offense, but you're off the mark. There was an initial lock down in the 90s when computers and the internet first became widely used in the military, but since then the rules on "personal use" have relaxed. You're operating on outdated info.
