I think the fact that he resigned over the affair negates the chances that the affair could have ever been used to blackmail him. If the attempt were made, he would have just revealed it himself and resigned.
Back to square one. It's an excuse to cover the political truths.
Breaking news from ABC: FBI Deemed Petraeus Affair Part of Criminal, Not Intel Probe - ABC News
This just become more awful by the day.
Patreaus could probably not admit he knew who sent the E-Mails to Jill, without revealing his affair with Paula Broadwell.
Should Patraeus return to Afghanistan and be prosecuted under Afghan law for Adultery?

How did Our Oil get under Their Sand?
"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."
-- Adam Smith
The legal part of it is whether or not he was still in the military or not when he started the affair. You can be punished under the UCMJ for adultery. I'm not one to buy into conspiracy theories, but unless he attends the congressional meetings regarding Benghanzi, then the timing is just too dubious.
Hail to the King baby!

Petraeus should have his head examined.
But Broadwell’s father said Sunday his daughter is the victim of character assassination and implied the bombshell story is just a smoke screen for something bigger.
“This is about something else entirely, and the truth will come out,” Broadwell’s dad, Paul Krantz, told the Daily News outside his home in Bismarck, N.D.
“There is a lot more that is going to come out,” said Krantz, claiming he was not allowed to elaborate. “You wait and see. There’s a lot more here than meets the eye.”
