I think we can live adequately without General Betrayus.

Why do you consider this a 'huge problem?' After all libs argued to the death that Clinton had the right to mess around with anyone he damn well chose even in the closet of the oval office, and it was no one's business.

Half right. The FBI can investigate the CIA. The CIA cannot investigate the FBI. It has no law enforcement authority.

Perhaps there is some protocol I’m unaware of, but I don’t see why resigning should affect whether Petraeus testifies or not. He was in charge of the CIA when the Benghazi attack occurred, and the CIA has been under plenty of fire for how the attack was handled.

I have some experience in government service. Anytime someone gets in trouble they leave. That usually gets them out of the picture because it is their job that is on the line and they have already given that up.

Not saying that's what happened here though I'm sure it has before.

The CIA knew ahead of time that the Libyan Embassy was under threat and had requested protection. I think the Administrations Staff decided to deny the request in hopes that less military or CIA presence would buy them favor with the new ruling Libyans but it was a poor decision that cost innocent lives. Now they're tucking their tails and running in circles trying to obfuscate the truth in hopes the story will go away. How Patraeus and Clinton are mixed up in this I don't know but there's more to it than we're hearing.
I don't think there is any question that the general had an affair with that nutjob Broadwell... but I am not sure there is a tie to poor judgment re: embassy security.

However, if Petraius sent her a thousand emails after they broke up that makes him a nutjob as well.

A really messy personal life does not inspire confidence.

You are wrong. I have been serving for the past 15 years and have been working in embassies for the past 10. There are things you cannot do on government computers: surf porn, visit hate sites, visit gambling sites, run a business, or download software. But you can most definitely use it to send personal email or even do some innocuous web surfing. If you are doing it when you should be working, instead of, say, on your break, you might get an ass chewing from a supervisor but it is most definitely not a crime.

I agree that though the timing of this is dicey it doesn't necessitate conspiracy with Benghazi. Could be two completely separate issues. The other woman telling the FBI about the affair kind of sounds bizarre now. Too much goofy stuff is going on here and most personal lives are messy if we could look into them all.

The story so far is that the other woman (unidentified) was afraid of threats from this Gmail account that beonged to the general. People with no self control shouldn't have affairs.

Rofl,,, people have affairs because they have no self control.

I'd be surprised if we've heard the end of this story by next month.
