A maximum of four electoral votes per state.
I see no reason to not let in any area as a State if they want to become one. Party lines are irrelevent to this subject...unless of course you want to play the partisan hackery game.

I personally don't like the electoral voting system that we have and I think it should be abolished but denying a statehood to an area just to try and keep one party from becoming "more powerful" or whatever is just BS.

i doubt republicans will support puerto rico becoming a state. it would probably be democratic from the get-go, that means 2 extra democratic senators, however many democratic reps, extra electorals for the dem candidate, etc.

Relax Pete, was a joke. I'm from the UK so can't really get on my high horse about such things.

The military prescence will also be a much needed show of force because from what I understand, Puerto Rico has experienced a HUGE rise in drug related gang activity.
What strategic advantage does PR offer over an overseas base?

You know it wouldn't be so bad reading your bull**** if you actually knew anything about what you're talking about.

So you are telling me, that the anti-Latino anti-immigration borderline racist Tea Party will be all for allowing more Latinos in as full citizens.. Latinos that speak Spanish as their main language and not English... Latinos that most likely will back the Democratic party.... that the Tea Party would be all for letting these people to become full members of American society?
