That reminds me of how the people drive on the sidewalks in Puerto Rico. I have no idea why it reminds me of that though.

you are right, puerto rico is a colony
but colonization has acquired a negative connotation that is not always deserved

the election choice included independence, and that option was not selected
so, the citizens of PR deserve to have their request for statehood considered (and imo approved) so they, too can enjoy being federal taxpayers
the folks of PR will then pine for a return to colonial status in short order
we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it

Actually it is deserved... 50+ years ago. Now days 99% of colonies are selfruled and the old methods of running colonies are long gone.. but that does not change the fact they are still a colony. Take Gibraltar. They elected their own representatives and even set their own taxes, but the ultimate rule of law still lies in Westminster, London, United Kingdom. The same principle goes for Greenland and Puerto Rico and Guam. Does not change the fact that they are colonies.

the election choice included independence, and that option was not selected
Hehe.. at least they got the choice. Places like Gibraltar will never ever get that choice.

I will, and here is my conclusion.

    Here is your answer:

    Average IQ in US States

    Average IQ of Countries
(This one has Puerto Rico, under the America heading.)

Per these, the US state with the lowest average IQ is Mississippi at 94.2. Puerto Rico sits at around 84.

What I think is that you rationalise a possible and indeed lower average IQ of Puerto Ricans as inferior and a reason to disallow them entry into the Union. But may I turn you to Exhibit B:

    Global IQ
Purple is highest, Red is lowest.

    Global GDP per capita
Dark Red is highest, Light Yellow is lowest.

See a trend? While not an exact, it can easily be seen that countries with lower GDP per capitas have a typically lower IQ. Puerto Rico has a GDP per capita much lower than that of Mississippi, or even the whole US for that matter.

You bringing up the average IQ of a nation as an argument against them is indecent and foul, and inherently Social-Darwinist and Supremacist. Not only this but your response to my question was unfounded and rude. You want me to form my own opinion, here it is, you're a racist man who believes that a possible IQ deficiency (which was indeed implyed by your question) in the Puerto Rican people due to their economic condition warrants them not becoming full American citizens through Puerto Rico becoming a state.

Pete when are you going to stop talking out your ass and engage your brain?

" anti-Latino anti-immigration borderline racist Tea Party" is just a flat out lie on your part. They aren't anti latino,
anti immigration, they are anti "illegal" immigration. there is a difference you know ... or do you not understand what
    "illegal" means.

While you are on your knees sucking up to every liberal thing you read, contrary to what you think, being against what is still
illegal in this country, that you don't belong to, doesn't make you a racist.

You put a major league team of some sport in PR and then they'll never want to leave.

You just gave away the 5th largest economy in the world and the largest farming state in the union. Nice going there.

9th as of the beginning of this calendar year, but a rather incredible statistic nonetheless.
