This is GREAT news.

WOW. With every election result I see this morning, I get more and more disgusted with the American people.

I am quickly reaching a point where I'm not sure there is any chance that this country can be saved..... FROM ITSELF and ITS CITIZENS.

In YOUR opinion. In my opinion, the things I'm seeing are demonstrating that the country is BEING saved.

See how that works?

You are free to move elsewhere. We won't miss your type here at all.

Yes. I see that unfortunately we have a nation where you have a Constitutional Right to think incorrectly.

Right now, my best thought on where to move to is about six feet below ground level, right next to my father.

I thought you were getting married, such a way to treat your mate...

That's a choice you can make. Rather silly, selfish, and sad, but it is your choice.

Surely there's a place somewhere on this earth that you could live that better fits your views and beliefs. You should really look into that.

In your opinion... which is meaningless. Of course, in this country your have a Constitutional right to believe that your opinions are facts... even when they are not.

She's the only reason I'm not a smear on the wall already.

Unfortunately those places don't want former Americans. I have looked.

Spend some time and think about what it would do to those around you who care about your sorry ass.

Congratulations to all of the same-sex couples who have been waiting so long for the tide to turn.

Please, let's not allow this thread to become all about Tigger as so often happens in these discussions. Stay focused on the result here. The people have spoken and it is wonderful news.

The country's earlier evolution toward granting equal rights to women and later African Americans/minorities didn't destroy the nation. There's no logical reason extending marriage equality would lead to a different outcome. One would still have the full freedom to marry a person of one's choice with only the range of choice being expanded as far as the laws are concerned. No one would be compelled to marry someone not of one's choice.

In the end, if the country faces a period of serious hardship or even decline, big factors such as its fiscal challenges, declining relative educational attainment, etc., will shape that evolution. The expansion of marriage under the law won't be a relevant factor. Of course, the country still enjoys the strategic flexibility to overcome the large challenges noted above. Whether its political leaders can come together to make the pragmatic and difficult choices required remains to be seen.

Hopefully Soon this will be a nonissue. Once the lgb rights are secured, we can work on the T and then once those are secured... I am not sure what I will fight for, perhaps spreading awareness over intersex issues, lots of times doctors play god with them at birth, and the consequences can be severe.

Bill O'Reilly is right. The country is changing. It's becoming a "Which president is going to give me the most stuff?". And Barack Obama is more than happy to facilitate that desire.... for now.

Gay marriage, the solution to all our country's ills.

I rather live in a country where we are allowed to think "incorrectly" then to live in a country where we are told what we can think.

If you do not like the fact that the citizens of two states made their own decision, that of course is your right to have an opinion.
Sorry Tig,but you don't get to make the rules for everyone else.

Gay marriage, the solution to all our country's ills.

Why should something not matter simply because it doesn't fix every problem? Or even just not the problems you personally care about. There's a lot of couples in this country, of consenting adults who love one another, who want to marry but can't. Why is their plight so irrelevant?

No. Just doing what's right. For a change.
Not right, just liberal. Doing what's liberal, for a while now. I wonder when liberals will open the gates to things like plural marriage?
