Gay marriage is approved by popular vote in Maine, Maryland

That has got to be the most nauseating avatar anyone could have posted. That is part of the disgusting pathology.

Why not, when the referendum in California denied SSM the left is appealing it.........What is good for the goose is good for the gander my left wing friend..stay tuned..........
In order for this to even be challenged, the person challenging it would have to be able to show that their rights are being denied in some way by the law itself. No one can say this when it comes to same sex marriage being legal. There would be no basis for the suit. The same reason is why we havent seen a lawsuit to challenge the Loving decision. No one can legitimately show how opening up marriage to more people could legitimately infringe any of your rights.

Sorry brother. I don't agree. You can't care about the plight of every single person in the world. It's impossible. The attitude that a person, group of people, or a nation should care about every single injustice in the world is what got the United States into the state it's in. We can only spread so far. To be clear, by care I mean something that you feel you need to take action on. Does it bug me that gay people can't marry? Yes, from a freedom stand point it does. Do I care enough to go march in a parade or write letters to Congressmen about it? No, I don't.

You don't have to parade. You just have to vote for civil rights, and not hold bigotry in your heart.

I guess you think that is a cute or clever question.

Each state defines what level of relationship is allowed to marry. In some states, cousins can. Others they cannot. One, if I remember correctly, allows marrying a 1st cousin, but not a 3rd degree cousin.

I don't believe any state allows marrying a biological parent or biological sibling.

So then we agree that the slippery slope argument is bull, right?

Don't all states fall under DOMA?

Don't all states fall under DOMA?

DOMA specifically applies to the federal government recognizing marriage and the ability for each state to not recognize same sex marriages that other states may authorize. It has nothing to do with rights at all. No rights are being denied to anyone by allowing two people of the same sex to marry.

Now, DOMA is unconstitutional because it infringes upon the people's right to receive equal protection under the law when it comes to the federal government recognizing marriage. But again that would be those wanting to enter into/ be recognized as being in a legal same sex marriage that are having their rights infringed upon, not those on the other side.

I wonder if you SSM supporters have noticed that the only states that support SSM are blue ones and that you are running out of them.

LOL....is that your new talking point NP? Of course the blue states will be the first ones (and those are the ones that people actually live in)....but after those, the red ones will come into the light as well. This is the beginning of the end for people of your ilk NP.

Whatever the SCOTUS decides is good enough for me.

Yeah....riiiiiight. You said the same thing about the military and "Don't ask Dont tell"....and then as soon as they ended the ban....you still we ranting about gays in the military. The same is true here. The SCOTUS will strike down bans on gay marriage and you will be one of the last bigots out there crying "activist court" and all the other BS you have in your arsensal to complain. Because thats what you people always do.

It was also let the people decide put it to a vote. Well'p the people of Washington ST decide....

Hmmm Popeye in your avatar is wearing blue pants

I wonder if you've noticed that there are plenty of people in those red states even, let alone the swing states, that support same sex marriage. In fact, many of the younger people in those red states support same sex marriage. Once those old guys/gals die off, the younger generation will vote to allow same sex marriage. But more likely before then, the SCOTUS will strike down those same sex marriage restrictions.

Navy Pride is notorious for moving the goalposts. He'll say "let the people decide" until they decide, then its "let the courts decide" and then they do...and then its "The legislature should decide".

Only in your dreams..........The red states passed their amendments by huge margin some over 80%...You won't see it in your lifetime.

Support of gay marriage nationally was like 30% or something in 2006, it's now over 50%. I know this has nothing to do with the states individually, but support for it is growing. If anything, we're gonna see some big changes in the next decade to come.

What was the % of the electorate in those showed up? Here in Texas when the gay marriage ban was put on a school board ballot only 13% of the electorate showed.

I'm willing to bet more people show for Presidential ballots.

NC vote. Only about 30% of the eligible voters voted and it was still just over 60% of that in a pretty conservative state (the only "swing" state that Romney got). This was less than most of the other southern states. Given another couple of years, I guarantee that vote would be even less, even if it was still over 50%. With every passing year, same sex marriage gains more and more approval NP. Whether you want it to or not.

I for one fully support a gay couple's right....to get some new siding and a new porch to improve that curb appeal. Moving inside, laminate hard-wood flooring is durable, clean and very attractive. Is your house a little older and feels dark? How about a skylight and perhaps an off-white interior paint? Perhaps a quick and cheap kitchen tune-up with some lighting under the cabinets is all your kitchen needs to feel warm.

Great then maybe a loan on the home would be a good way for them to fund, say, an additional room for a nursery ;)

Wet nurses are my favorite!
