Gay marriage is approved by popular vote in Maine, Maryland

CC show me where it has been called in Washington. Its true SSM has a little lead here but it is far fro a done deal my friend.

It's a formality, NP. What are you going to do when it is passed?

Your opinion of what the New Deal did differs greatly from mine. I saw it as giving penicillin to someone with pneumonia.

I don't see any candidate with any awesome plan to dramatically fix the economy. Minor changes 'tis all I see. I certainly didn't see either candidate as one who's economic policies or judicial picks destroying anything. The economy is not going to fall apart. This is catastrophizing hooey. There will be valleys and hills. There always are. No one is going to do something so dramatic as to destroy the ecosystem. Those that believe Obama will don't know what they are talking about. Might things get worse? Maybe. Might they get better? Maybe. Will they be destroyed? Nah.

sadly the patient was allergic

I would agree but these are mainstream civil rights that apply to everyone. NOw I support gay marriage, SSM marriage and I think gays ought to serve in the military, but this is a minor issue to most americans.

it really should be a non-issue. why anyone cares is beyond my comprehension, theres nothing about two guys or girls getting married that in any way invalidates a heterosexual marriage.

Many Americans may consider it a minor issue but I dont think they should. We should all care about equal treatment under the law for every citizen. Thats all im trying to say.

Though it gets ridiculed here by those who don't understand the law, but the fact remains that straights and gays are objectively treated the same under the law. What the difference is involves subjective feelings of "attraction"

Um...not really. When a gay, married couple can take their children in one state and cross the border into another state and suddenly have their marriage and parental rights disappear, you can't claim they are "objectively" treated the same.

Good stuff. In 50 years time, people will wonder why there was a big fuss over gay marriage in the first place.

Canada is already there and were wondering what the hell is going in the states.

We are waiting for you guys to get on with the legalization of incest, plural marriages, and bestiality. I mean...obviously that is what comes after legalizing same sex marriage.

a man and a woman can do that whether they find each other attractive or not. the world is full of lesbians who are mothers and the children were products of heterosexual intercourse

that is patently ridiculous. Its like saying those of us who think civilians ought to be able to freely own the same small arms that cops and infantry men carry should be able to own nuclear ballistic missiles

Huh? That made no sense. A man and woman who are married in New York can move to Kansas and their marriage and parental rights will remain intact. The same is not true of a lesbian couple married in New York.

Complete dodge of the point: heterosexual couples do not suddenly have their rights disappear by crossing a state line.

its a father and a mother that matters. You just don't understand the objective issue.

To be honest with you I don't care about DOMA.......Those 32 states that have consitutional amendments defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman is more important.

You should care. It's an unconstitutional law. I guess some people don't believe in the constitution...

It's a formality, NP. What are you going to do when it is passed?

Its not going to pass here and in the 32 states who have amendments...Like I said I think it will end up in the SCOTUS and I don't see them overruling those 32 states.........If I am wrong I can live with it.........I live in one of the most beautiful states in the nation and love it here....I will just continue voting my conscience on every issue............

the millions of intergenerational government dependents are the rash

I'm glad you still have your sense of humor.

More like these are people who got put on artificial respiration... so they wouldn't just have to die like they did in the past. Medical advances to extend life.

It's going to pass in Washington, NP. I'll use one of your words... guaranteed.

From the article:

So, what now, NP?

Again I am telling you it is not a done deal here..........We have a huge absentee ballot mail here (I use it myself) and the 52-48 percent with 1% of the state reporting is to close to call.

NOt with Obamacare

christian news outlets are reporting that it passed, so...

Well yes technically that is correct in the sense that neither a homosexual nor a heterosexual can marry someone of the same sex. But I cant say that it is truly equal treatment but only equal treatment in the most strict sense of the word.
