But maybe you don't harbor any implicit racism at all Maggie. Feel free to take the implicit association test yourself and find out.

    Its a junk test.

The first thing the ask to determine if you are are a racist is what state you live in and your party affiliation.

So the questionaire begins by asserting whether or not a person is a racist depends upon where you live and what political party you prefer and are you conservative or liberal.

At that point, it is a junk questionaire.

I went on from there, but then decided "to hell with this" when it wanted you to look at people's faces only and declare whether the person is a "bad" person or a "good" person. I can't not imagine anyone but a PURE RACIST seeing that as a valid questionaire at all. How the hell do I know if a person is "bad" or "good?"

Thanks for totally wasting my time.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH THAT "TEST" - it takes you thru piles of pages of crap, all beginning with whether you are a racist or not is based upon where you live, whether you are conservative or liberal, and what political party you prefer. THAT is "Harvards" basis to determine who is and isn't a racist.

BUT who is the racist is whoever created the "questionaire" - declaring a person can decide who is bad and who is good by looking at the person's face. What a bunch of crap!

    Poll results

    Academic analysis

So far comments I've read are saying this is nothing more than blatant propaganda on the part of the Obama campaign, an attempt to 'shame' ignorant white folks into voting for that black guy -- I so luvs me the True Believers
If you look at this, its just trying to instill white-guilt crap, totally worthless as a "poll" or "academic analysis."

yeah. what relevance does where you live have on whether or not you are a racist? other than to feed into their preconceived stereotypes of who is or is not racist. an interesting experiment (but not interesting enough for me to spend the time wading through all that crap twice) would be to take the survey twice and answer the first part differently each time (conservative southerner once and liberal northerner once) then make all the other choices the same and see if you get the same results or if the "demographics" questions influence how racist they think you are

Today the NPR in my area had a guy on claiming "The majority of people against Obama are racist". I almost took an accidental dump in the bathtub.

When I hear the word "racist" anymore, I just move on. It's the first indicator that the argument is over, and the user has nothing left in his bag.

Liberals LOVE to play the victims. They must teach the nuances of it in some households.

Beats me. I wasn't aware that they were.

I have two adopted sons that are black. they have lived with white people since they were 3. they are more comfortable around white people. not because we have taught them to distrust blacks, but because they are more familiar with whites.
So, in other words: growing up amongs white people, their minds have developed a positive association with respect to white people. I fail to see how forming negative associations is so different.

Your data suggest little to no difference in implicit preference between White People and Black People.
That's unusual. If you don't mind, I'm curious what race you are.

I already explained this. Those questions have nothing to do with the test. The researchers are obviously just trying to collect some background information so they can check for possible correlations.

I'm not sure which test you took. No test I provided a link for gave such instructions.

I agree with Joko. If you are unable to read and follow simple instructions, then don't take the test. It's a waste of your time.
