For those affected, a few words from someone who has been through a few Hurricanes.
Help your neighbors, if you can.
A full freezer can go several days if unopened, so plan several group cookouts,
only opening one freezer per day.
Keep eyes and ears open for ice and gasoline (this will be you focus for a while)
If you grill up too much, find other neighbors or working line crews and make a few plates.
Think of being without power for 8 to 10 days, and plan accordingly.
Your storm is different, in that it may not be ugly hot afterwords, but if working be
sure to get plenty of liquids.

Obama and Christie are touring the damage tomorrow.

I wonder if they will "do lunch?".

80 mph is Not the end of the world, but damage and flooding Could be very serious and we May see evacuations throughout the area.
Let's hope it weakens or veers east, but almost all models say otherwise.

I wonder how much climate change is affecting the further north hurricanes? Living in FL I thought after the storms of 2004-05 if this keeps up I'm moving West.

I woke up with no cable this morning, but I never lost electricity. It was not too bad here at all. A few trees came down, and there is some flooding on some streets, mostly because the drains are clogged with leaves though. There are leaves and branches everywhere. Hope everyone came through okay.

See, not such a pain in the ass, as the media is trying to present it.

To those people in the storm surge area, I can assure you, it will be a pain.
I hope all had flood insurance, I suspect many did not, because theses events are rare.

Bail them out! Why banks can be bailed out and average citizens can't?

Don't bail them out, it is harsh, but our Federal Government is not charted to do so.
We do have FEMA which can do a trailer, and a loan.
