Amazingly, as of earlier today there had been 94 mentions fo this in major newspapers and exactly ZERO of them connected it to climate change. How about that liberal media bias?
    What does that mean?

It means that the media has been so brow-beaten by knuckle-dragging conservatives that it's a joke to refer to the media as liberal.
"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."

That hands down is some of the most lame brained partisan crap I have heard in a long ass time. I mean this is a thread about a bad storm that may hit the east coast and you turn it into some stupid ass political bull****. Moronic at best, total and absolute failure of a post at worst.

It's not so much a liberal/conservative thing as it is a sensational thing. Scary things sell more newspapers, and sometimes reality isn't very scary so they have to make it scary. COULD CLIMATE CHANGE CAUSE GRAVITY TO REVERSE?? Is the headline, but the article concludes "nope." Too late. You already read it. They got their advertising revenue.

The timing of this hurricane brings up an interesting question. What if an entire state gets hammered by a major event that basically stops election day? If all of West Virginia is without power and the majority of their roads are a mess... what do we... do? Decide the election based on the few dozen people who lived across the street from their polling station and therefore could make it? What if the voting machines are electronic and there's no electricity?

    Extend the election?

    Do-over?

Either way, I expect a lot of lawyers getting a lot of money :|

I think a state could delay since the electors don't need to be determined until January. Probably would be an issue if the storm were a week later.

Yeah, you folks are probably not going to see a whole lot of me from Monday on. I have to go into work for a couple hours tomorrow (Sunday), and then 3-4 hours on Monday morning. As of 5pm on Monday evening I go on a 5pm-7am schedule until the storm damage is totally dealt with.

For those who don't already know.... I work for the 3rd largest Gas/Electric Utility company in the USA and we're based in Central New England.

If this shuts everything down there on Nov 6 what happens then?

I am right in the direct path but no one here is excited. It's peeps near rivers and beaches who are most at risk, I hope, that is. It's just it's usual swampy weather here.

So am I correct in thinking that you are a knuckle dragging climate change denier?
