I agree with that.If a convicted felon can not be trusted to exercise their constitutional rights responsibly then they shouldn't be released.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I don't believe that you actually believe that.

Exactly. If they can't be trusted with the rights that normally pertain to a citizen, they should stay in prison.

Some people should not be allowed to have children, much less own a pistol.

Felon pays his debt to society then I see no reason why he/she should not be able to own a gun

He/she also has the responsibility to be able to protect himself, family and other people

LOL - I'm just pointing out the obvious. Teens are stupid because we let them be stupid.

And that is part of the problem... we LET them be stupid. We don't make them grow up, like kids had to a century ago.

I treat my 16yo son like a responsible adult for the most part... and for the most part, he ACTS like one... because I expect it of him, and because I've spent the last 16 years building a MAN, not a boy.

Recall the story I posted about a 12y/o, little Ms. St.Clair, who shot an intruder with "the family gun".... imagine the level of trust her mother placed in Ms. St.Clair, to be 12 y/o and home alone with access to a loaded firearm.

I don't know why the father was missing from that home, but evidently Mrs. St.Clair was doing something right by raising such a responsible little girl.

Our office in Michigan tried to introduce a bill which would do just that but it got shelved when the NRA turned thumbs down on every piece of gun related legislation sponsored by a Democrat. No Republican would touch it then.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers
