5 PEOPLE Die from Monster Energy FDA investigates their formula now.

People died after drinking a product that can be found in every grocery store and gas station in the country.

Does anyone here really have a problem with the FDA investigating? I mean, it's not like they've freaking banned the product, what on earth is the OP on about? YES, FERCHRISSAKES, THE FDA EXISTS SPECIFICALLY TO CHECK STUFF LIKE THIS OUT.

There's a warning on the can? What does it say? (I'm just curious. I've only had Monster once, and it was disgusting.)

I had one once. It was a warning with a rectangular frame around it or something. They may have changed it up since then, but it said something like only drink one can in a 24 hour period. There was some guy in my platoon that drank at least 5 of those ****ing things a day, I'm surprised the fat bastard never keeled over.

Run a 100 shot of nitrous through a car motor not built for it enough times, and what do you think will happen? Same thing, really.

Good analogy.

Need to get energy drinks on the drug list so the DEA needs more officers, more SWAT gear for local police, certainly at least 1 more prison in every state and the drinks costing $20 each on the black market made in people's garages.

I heard on the radio that the girl also had a genetic condition that caused vascular issues to be easily exacerbated by stimulants. Not sure whether the parents were aware of her condition prior to death, though.

Is this thread a knock against the FDA? I'd think you would want the FDA to investigate the drinks and make sure they're safe for consumption.

Regulated how? They aren't stopping it from reaching minors. Legal acton can't bring people back from the dead either. And whos to say that the people that died from monster energy drinks were minors?

Steroids show evidence to not be bad for you at all if admitted right. They don't cause cancer and they don't kill you at all. Yet they are illegal, class C to be exact. Same as cocaine. But something that does hurt you, kill you, is perfectly legal.

I'm just stating how corrupt our government is. MONEY > EVERYONE ON THE PLANET.

What do you mean 'regulated how?' - you must be of a certain age, they're taxed separately, an establishment but be licensed to sell or serve, laws and regulations are written just for that . . . etc etc.

That's the essence of regulation - regulations are written based on a problem or issue and sometimes it's different substance to substance - sometimes it's not.

Anything that smells like that should be presumed to be completely unhealthy, and not consumed by anyone.

I am so sick of the, "It is someone else's fault mentality".

Over consumption of water has killed people to.
Let's investigate!!

lol! this is true.

if the FDA cared about things being healthy for you...then why are OREOs in stores? Sure they might not "kill" you right after you consume them, but did anyone say obese 5 year olds with diabetes? lol

24 oz Monster Energy drinks are 1.5x the normal size of the regular Monster Energy drinks... and she drank two of them? One 16 oz gives me heart palpitations.

But i love our country. GREED at its finest. lol.

What would little baby Jesus say if he heard you speaking like that?

To think about 78% of the US population claims to be Christian and they dont even realise that Jesus Christ was a socialist

Leave Monster alone... everyone should know taking high doses of caffeine and energy supplements can increase your risk of cardiac arrest, etc.
It's sad, but why do we always have to blame something? **** happens! You could die any second from a condition you have no idea about right now and there is thousands of things contributing to your death RIGHT NOW all at the same time and you never know when the dice rolls the wrong way! There is nothing in monster, when not consuming more then what the can says, that would kill a normal healthy human being, but there is always a risk for everything.

The same FDA that constantly misses severe bio toxins during factory inspections? The same FDA that constantly misses dosage problems in medications or flat out keeps drugs off the market with their R&D requirements and testing durations. That group of incompetents?

And the sad thing is that people have figured out how to get high off of abusing H2O. People are constantly asking for more government intervention and the result seems to be a less competent overall society. We've gotten to the point that people will trust anything with an FDA stamp even if it smells rotten and looks like it's been rotting for a decade, meanwhile they gloss over the gross incompetence during that agencies history and egregious ****ups.

You are exactly right. I was doing my boxing cardio today, for all I know I could have had an arterial dissection forming or an aneurism and had that been the case I would never have known, with the strain I would be dead before hitting the ground. Life is kind of funny in that it's temporary at any duration, sad but true.

And?
Does her choice to drink two somehow make the manufacturer responsible?

:doh
But alcohol and tobacco - and many other potentially dangerous products - are regulated. Legal action can fall your way if you buy it for a minor, etc.

Energy Drinks are not.

These people are drinking massive doses of caffeine....It is self-medication...

It sure doesn't smell like anything I'd want to drink..

Yes - so -- this changes something?

knowing the ingredients - I highly doubt that the caffeine alone was the sole culprit in these deaths. Which will be found out during the FDA's investigation. Caffeine is only just one stimulant in them - and they all affect the body in different ways.

Do you have a breakdown of this drinks ingredients??

For years now I've been watching the younger folks chugging those "energy drinks" down by the six-pack like they were sodas.... and shaking my head and saying "when you're my age, your heart is going to be worn out like an overwound spring... if you live that long."

As I am a Newby...thought you might help me out..apparently not......

You didn't read the thread? I don't see the point in reposting what is already posted when all you have to do is take a short amount of time and read through it all and find what you asked.
