With 60,000 dead, Mexicans wonder why drug war doesn't rate in presidential debate

Re: With 60,000 dead, Mexicans wonder why drug war doesn't rate in presidential debat

They need to ask their own GOVT why they're not doing more...why is it always about us doing more why Mexico's police and GOVT continues to be so corrupt. .

Mexico is under the control by the "war on drugs". Mid-east is under the control by the "war on terror". US is the mastermind and makes money on these two wars. The trick is, he blames others for it. (like what you did)

Reports Of Mexican Special Forces Serving As 'Death Squads' In The Drug War

Michael Kelley|Oct. 2, 2012
Ciudad Juárez, right across the border from El Paso, Texas, was perhaps the most dangerous place in the world between 2008 and 2011 as a “cartel turf war" led to more than 10,000 murders.

But U.S. and Mexican officials told Stratfor that the surge of killings can be partly attributed to Mexican special forces and hitmen who were acting as U.S. informants.

That article you quoted above ^^^^^^ I find dubious. The reason for all the deaths in Mexico - (I read 30,000 is it really 60,000?) is because the U.S. shipped these weapons in and fueled the conflict.

Were recreational drugs to be legalized, the major sources of revenue would immediately stop in the black and Hispanic neighborhoods in the United States.

If you're going to suggest legalizing drugs, you need to address the problem of the minority community revenue first.

It's important to note upfront that calling me racist, bigoted and all the other liberal nonsense will not solve the minority community revenue problem.

Somebody deal with the statistics - now I thought the U.S. shipped 60,000 guns to Mexico

but the death toll was 30,000 people.

Help anyone?

Are you serious?

What revenue?

Money goes from drug users to dealers to distributors to the drug lords...most of which is located offshore.

So most of that money ends up exported.

How the heck do you call that a source of income for Americans?

Make all drugs legal - the 'war' would end almost immediately.

Exactly. And let Darwin's theory weed out (unintended pun) those who insist on injecting dangerous drugs into their bodies.

War on drug is an endless one because it is profitable business for the Feds.

Mexican official: CIA 'manages' drug trade
Spokesman for Chihuahua state says US agencies don't want to end drug trade, a claim denied by other Mexican officials.

Juarez, Mexico - The US Central Intelligence Agency and other international security forces "don't fight drug traffickers", a spokesman for the Chihuahua state government in northern Mexico has told Al Jazeera, instead "they try to manage the drug trade".

Jesús Zambada Niebla, a leading trafficker from the Sinaloa cartel currently awaiting trial in Chicago, has said he was working for the US Drug Enforcement Agency during his days as a trafficker, and was promised immunity from prosecution.

"Under that agreement, the Sinaloa Cartel under the leadership of [Jesus Zambada's] father, Ismael Zambada and 'Chapo' Guzmán were given carte blanche to continue to smuggle tonnes of illicit drugs... into... the United States, and were protected by the United States government from arrest and prosecution in return for providing information against rival cartels," Zambada's lawyers wrote as part of his defence. "Indeed, the Unites States government agents aided the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel."

The Sinaloa cartel is Mexico's oldest and most powerful trafficking organisation, and some analysts believe security forces in the US and Mexico favour the group over its rivals.
Regardless of what position a new administration takes in order to calm the violence and restore order, it is likely many Mexicans - including government officials such as Chihuahua spokesman Guillermo Villanueva - will believe outside forces want the drug trade to continue.
