41 percent of adults don't work

So that explains why when I take a day off and ride around town excpecting to have the streets and shops all to myself, it is almost as busy as evenings and weekends. Makes me crazy, I feel like the jokes on me...hah, you go to work almost every day? *snicker* ;)

And what's with the 2%+ who "want" a job but aren't looking? Can't we just chuckle and mark them as don't have/don't want?
It's like the person who "wants to lose weight" but who eats enough calories not to lose weight each day.

Cool spin chart. Now if you dig into this a little bit deeper you would find this is just a poor partisan attack to bash Obama.

Maybe they are not actively looking. Maybe they are working on something that gets them experience. Take my brother. He is "working" for me. But technically his pay is room and board, a paid cell phone, and $100 a month, plus extras. He would most likely be considered not working, wanting a job (he actually would accept a job his degree is in if one was offered) but he isn't actively looking.

Your brother can't be convinced to take responsibility for himself. He sees himself as a victim.

According to Mitt, anyway.

Have any elderly, retired family members? Count them in too. Victims, can't take responsibility for themselves, etc. Doesn't matter if they worked for 50 years. Leeches, all!

The other unemployment rate - Oct. 18, 2012

So four out of every 10 people you pass in the mall or see walking down the street don't work, for whatever reason, and do not personally generate an income, other than social security or welfare.

And of those who actually want a job, 13.5% of them are unemployed.

Say why dont you go apply for al l that "free gov" money and tell us all what you get! LMAO!
And what about all those management people, investors, and CEO's that dont work? Why are they not included or pointed out?

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Clap, Clap, Clap. Yay, you have shown less than complete data to support your view. For some of us though, you need to invite Paul Harvey to join the discussion because many of us definitely need "the rest of the story".

That number is going to grow as 1.) America ages 2.) older business owners opt to retire rather than fight government anymore and 3.) goverment makes more people eligible for disability and other benefits.

A MAJOR cause of unemployment and people just dropping out are senior aged business owners who see the President cursing and targeting them every day, are under constant and increasing threats and demands from government regulators at all levels, and decide to just shut it all down - thus everyone loses their job. The owner then retires, reduces his expenses - spending less - and that lower level of spending still hits other businesses in terms of lost income and lost jobs.

Every week I see more small businesses - the kind that employ 3, 8, 15, 20 employees closed down. 100% of large businesses have except the utility company. It has become a snowballing effect. I do know small business owners - all older - who mean it when they said they will just close shop and retire if Obama wins. They are tired of fighting it all and always being called greedy and evil. If they reduce their personal expenditures, they have enough to very comfortably retire on. All their employees then lose everything, nearly all go on goverment assistance, and every business that owner and those employees bought from takes that hit too.

I believe that is exactly what will happen on an rapidly escalating level - and that is what companies and business owners - large and small - are increasingly sounding the panic alarm about.

If Obama would be sooooo good for the economy, why are business owners and managers so adament against his re-election as a strong economy would benefit them most of all?

Wow, most older businessmen I know, including my father, sell their businesses and then retire. Many small business owners finally realize the payoff for the long hours and years of work by selling. If they are simply closing their businesses that indicates a non-profitable business that no one wants to buy.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

It makes sence becasue then you will stop spouting the lies of all that free gov money and REALITY will kick your ass.

All you will get is SNAP and you cant even buy tooth paste with it.

Uh......ok.

What the hell just happened? Am I on Candid Camera?

Another thread dedicated to the discredited rightwing "Americans don't want to work" meme. It never dies.

Everybody I know works real hard -- except rich people.

The purpose of this meme is to indicate that the government does too much to help American's prosper, and we should be focussing more on letting billionaires run the country.

A pitiful meme, but there it is.

It's NOT that Americans don't want to work, and that meme was invented on the left to excuse openning the borders to illegals. Folks have been forced to choose under the radar work and they'll supplement that with government grants if they can. That's not the "government doing too much to help Americans prosper". Just the opposite in fact.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Actually it does, in a twisted and ignorant sort of way. Apparently he doesn't consider mental work as work. Having a couple of family members who work in management, maybe they don't do as much physical work as lower level employees, but they sure as hell put in a lot of time away from their families as a result of being management than any low level wage earner does.

The bolded is the most ridiculous thing ever posted on this forum.

Not only do they work hard, they work insane hours and carry a HUGE burden of responsibility to provide an environment for many other people to work and support their families as well.
