Christian Group Finds Gay Agenda in an Anti-Bullying Day [W:159]

If their religion leads them to believe homosexuality is a sin, they have the right to pass those beliefs on to their children. I don't see the problem here.

Most world religions don't accept homosexuality.

The parents are not being violent, they're not being disruptive, they're simply talking about skipping a day of school.

How you make the leap from 'opposes bullying' to 'overtly supports homosexuality' is beyond me, unless your default premise is that gays are rightfully the subjects of bullying.

I get annoyed by the hypocrisy in threads like this. You guys say it's about accepting people for who they are.

What is this thread? It's yet another opportunity for haters to tee off on Christianity, on religion, on traditional values. It's an opportunity for haters to spew their hate.

You guys are no better than the AFA or whoever you're whining about. Hypocrites.

This is nonsense. Any religious doctrine/belief that encourages ostracism, hatred, or incendiary behavior against any group is intolerable. Viewing homosexuality as sinful is one thing. Harping on homosexuality so significantly that you would refute anti-bullying measures against homosexuals is sickening, hypocritical, and entirely unjustified from a biblical standpoint. It is irrational and indefensible. Especially when issues the bible is MUCH clearer on are largely swept under the rug, tolerated without incident, or blatantly ignored. This is a hateful, fear-based targeting of homosexuals without cause. Calling them out for it is hardly hypocritical when you're coming from a standpoint of tolerance.

Intelligent people understand that there's nothing to be afraid of. Or maybe it's not intelligence. Maybe some people are just cowards.

Pasch - There is a difference between intelligence and understanding. My wife is extremely intelligent but almost all of what she knows is book learning. She took the tests and got good grades.
But when it comes to practical application to solve a problem, she is generally lost as a kitten.
Then there are people who are intelligent and have a good education and a "good" job but never let the understanding part get in the way of thier personal beliefs or attitudes.

That is why I phrased it the way I did. Intelligence does not always = comprehension

No one is hating on Christianity or even religion in general here. We're hating on immoral douchebag behaviour, on hate-mongering, on HURTING PEOPLE who are not hurting you. Until you get that, you will always be behind the curve. There is no war on religion, much as I and some others might like there to be. There is only a war on douchebags, and these happen to be religious douchebags.

You could find a gay agenda in anti-bullying day. It's called: Don't be an asshole to gay people day.

Off topic question - What to you think when people makes comments that stirr up a hornets nest and then bail? IS this baiting or trolling or somethng else? Just asking!

If religion wasnt so hateful, then you wouldnt see any negative comments.

We have zero tolerance for hatred.
Liberals are repulsed by Hitler, too.

Homosexuals shouldn't be bullied, but if the anti-bullying laws/promotions push moral beliefs regarding homosexuality (as in saying it's normal/healthy/moral etc). Then the AFA would have a valid point (which they probably don't here).

My ass. Liberals are just fine with hatred so long as it is tolerable among the crowd-same as everyone else.

I guess everyone has their limits. If the AFA wants to boycott anti-bullying day so be it. Don't expect people to support their position though. that ultimately supports codified discrimination against gays.

I think the only "moral" belief behind anti-bullying day is that you should treat people with respect and kindness, even if they're different from you. Doesn't mean you have to support their lifestyle/decisions/viewpoints/behaviors. People who can't separate being kind from accepting are seriously limited in emotional and rational development, IMO.

What you have is zero tolerance for differing views and it's getting to the point of foolishness.

It seems impossible to have any sort of discussion on homosexuality with liberals falling over themselves to attack Christians even when Christians have nothing to do with a discussion. We keep hearing how about these wars on women and minorities in general from the right but you guys are sure quick to throw around words like "whore", "slut", "****", "nigger", "Aunt Tom", etc. when it comes to people like Mia Love, Stacey Dash, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, etc.

again, zero tolerance for hate.

I'll tell ya, drop your hate towards homosexuals and i'll consider joining your religion.

I agree with this. I'm also not saying that anti-bullying day doesn't have that as the focus and belief.

There is a difference between not supporting someone's position and downright attacking them.

It's not even so much the continued attacks on anyone different by liberals that I find comical. It's the insistence of how tolerant they are.

I don't have any hatred toward homosexuals. You clearly have hatred toward Christians though.

Except no one cares if you join or not, that's up to and all on you.

But you agree with the christian agenda in regards to homosexuals. Do you not?

But you agree with the christian agenda in regards to homosexuals. Do you not?

I don't believe there is a consistent "christian agenda in regards to homosexuals". Quite a few christians accept and work for the equal rights of homosexuals. Some do, some don't.

I don't know what that means but it's not really relevant.

We're almost five pages in on an anti-Christian thread masquerading as a pro-homosexuality thread without a single attack by a Christian. That is what is relevant.

Well, im always given a quote from the bible. Isnt the bible the final word?
You see, that's a big issue that i have with religion. People pick and choose what they like and dont like. I really believe they use their religion as to mask their hate.
If you're gonna organize a religion, for chirst sake, make sure everyone is on the same page. This is why i cant take any religion seriously.

How is this an anti-Christian thread?
