If by less time you mean less time alive behind bars then you are correct. I reckon if she had beaten her two year old to death in the Lone Star State she would get the needle, takes 10 to 15 years to exhaust appeals and strap her down.
This crazy bitch deserves all 99 years she got. She should just be put down.
I read this with my 2 year old asleep in the next room my 2 year old who doesnt yet understand why an adult is angry and is yet to really grasp right from wrong, who is still trying to work out this big world. It makes me shudder to think that a parent could even do this to their child or any child for that matter and it upsets me to think the confusion and pain this child went through. Its stories like this that make me want to hold my little lad and give him a kiss because I know that many kids out there will never get that.
‘This is not peace, it is an armistice for 20 years.’ (Ferdinand Foch. After the Treaty of Versailles, 1919).
"The knowledge and prudence of the poor themselves, are absolutely the only means by which any general and permanent improvement in their condition can be effected." - Thomas Malthus
I figure that if the woman says she can't forgive herself, then we have no obligation to forgive her either.
That being said, there are two reasons to put someone in jail: 1. Protect the general public and 2. Punish the offender.
1. This woman testified that her behavior was caused by an abusive parent and boyfriend. If her being abused led to her being abusive, then doesn't it stand to reason that if she stays in the lives of her 5 children that they would likely become another generation of abusive parents? The sentence keeps her from being a negative influence on her children any more. Maybe this will stop the cycle of violence in her family.
2. Beating a helpless, defenseless child because she pooped her pants and didn't use the potty is definitely something that should be punished. I would hope that when she is up for parole in 30 years that she is denied.
Finally, what do you expect from a woman with a tattoo on her neck?
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
I'm glad the sentencing was strict.
Sandusky should've been given this sentence rather than 30 years
