USADA report "proves" Armstrong used drugs - Yahoo! News

"The evidence shows beyond any doubt that the US Postal Service Pro Cycling Team ran the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen," USADA said in a statement from chief executive Travis Tygart.

"The evidence also includes direct documentary evidence including financial payments, emails, scientific data and laboratory test results that further prove the use, possession and distribution of performance enhancing drugs by Lance Armstrong and confirm the disappointing truth about the deceptive activities of the USPS Team, a team that received tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars in funding."

"a team that received tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars in funding"

Why exactly are taxpayer dollars going to a bicycling team?

It's things like this that baffle me beyond belief. Why do taxpayer dollars go to bicycle teams, puppet shows, or painting a giant salmon on a 747? We're not sure, all we know is that we need more taxes.

He lost a testicle. How much more punishment can one suffer than that?

Because Big Bird likes to watch?

Big Bird should do more riding and less watching. A little puffy around the waistline.

The post office is primarily self-funded. The only taxpayer funded mail service is for overseas ballot mailing and some sort of disability-related mail service.

So no, taxpayers did not fund it.

This is the second post in a minute-and-a-half that makes absolutely no sense to me. WTF does the post office have to do with this thread??

Ahhhhhh.... I dunno. Losing two testicles?

I'm getting so fed up with the way this thread is going, I just might take my balls and go home.

The USPS sponsored the team.

Why? Well, why not? If they don't spend every dime they can't ask for more next year.

Probably trying to promote their FedEx-UPS type services before they abandoned next-day delivery.

Irrelevant, they all use drugs so he still won all those races fair and square.

Why is taxpayer money going to bicycle teams irrelevant?

I don't really care if Armstrong cheated or not, I do a little - but not too much, but what I really care about is tens of millions of taxpayer money funding it.

I don't think those were tax dollars funding it, though. I think that, as mentioned earlier, the post office is largely self funded.

I don't know about the tax dollars.

The post office sponsored the team. This appears to be the source of the question in the thread title.

Did you miss the very first post? The quotes?

Here:

a team that received tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars in funding

According to the article, tens of millions of TAXPAYER DOLLARS IN FUNDING.

Now please respond to that.

The post office sponsored the team. This appears to be the source of the question in the thread title.

The thread title says nothing about the PO and everything about taxpayer funding.

The post office presumably sponsored the team for publicity they got their moneys worth.

But was the post office using OUR money, my money, your money to sponsor the team? That's the question.

No. The USPS is self funded. It receives its marching orders from the government but does not receive tax dollars. It is funded by postage.

But let's pretend the USPS is tax payer funded. So what? What Lance does with his paycheck is his own responsibility. I am in the military. The US tax payer pays my salary. But once that money is paid to me it is no longer tax payer money. It is mine. I earned it. The government is not responsible for what I do with it. If I decide to go out and buy and use some illegal drugs would you consider that tax payer funded drug use?

Sigh.....the article says that the USPS sponsored bicycling team, which Armstrong was a member of, received tens of millions of taxpayer dollars.

So either the USPS provided the team with that money, or the government did, but either way, and I don't care which way, I want to know why a bicycling team gets taxpayer funding to the tune of tens of millions?

The point you make is one reason Obama supporters need to shut up about Big Bird. Some people are babbling like idiots about how PBS is a tiny part of our spending, relatively speaking. The list of BS spending contains a lot more than what you or Romney mentioned.

I thought it was strange that they found drugs in his system, THIS time. How many times have they checked this guy in the past and how many times has this come up in the past, only to have him test negative, and now all of the sudden he tests positive? Strange.
