I agree, it sucks for the team, but Armstrong is getting what he deserves if he's been doping IMO. Too bad for the ones who are honest.

I'm still wondering how he was never caught before now, because this isn't a new controversy for him and not the first time he's been tested.

People still seem to be missing that little point. Now, if we want to get upset about our tax dollars being used to sponsor this kind of stuff we still can. The U.S. Army, which IS tax payer supported, sponsors a NASCAR race team.
That's stupid too. This stuff is NOT what taxpayer dollars are for!!!

Here: USADA report proves Armstrong used drugs | Sport | Reuters <-- a second source

"The evidence also includes direct documentary evidence including financial payments, emails, scientific data and laboratory test results that further prove the use, possession and distribution of performance enhancing drugs by Lance Armstrong and confirm the disappointing truth about the deceptive activities of the USPS Team, a team that received tens of millions of American taxpayer dollars in funding."

It is an independent Federal Agency. It is supposed to remain revenue neutral...not make money, not lose money. However with their pension issues in the last few years, we (the taxpayers) had to bail some of their programs out with tax payer money. I think that is the point the others are going for. I see your position as well, and if they held themselves revenue neutral (which they haven't) it may not be a big deal.

Let's play devil's advocate. Let's say that they did in fact remain neutral, however they took 1 Billion dollars a year to fund cardboard boat races down the Mississippi. I would personally not be in favor of that because they are supposed to be delivering a public service. The simpler and easier they do it, minus all the gold plating, and the cheaper it is for us, the tax payer.

The Senate’s foolish USPS bailout—Editorial - NYPOST.com
The US Postal Service is so mired in debt that nothing can save it from going bust — but the Senate is trying to dump a $33.7 billion bailout in its lap anyway.
And the NASCAR team is no longer supported after this year. It was terminated by congress.

How ironic is that? Steroids are suspected to maybe linked to testicular cancer, although there isn't a lot of evidence of that yet. It only makes sense, though, since steroids contain testosterone and other hormones, that doing steroids would mess with your body big time.

The only reason the post office is running a deficit is because the Republicans basically sabotaged it by requiring them to pre-pay seventy-five years of pension funds. Something no other entity has ever been required to do.

Thank you. Your original link did not contain the sentence you quoted. Perhaps they realized their mistake and removed the sentence.

USADA is being disingenuous when they say his team received tax payer dollars. The only subsidies the USPS receives from the government are earmarked specifically toward voting registration/ballot projects, such as overseas voting. No tax payer dollars went to Armstrong's team.
