PITTSBURGH — Police are looking for the attacker who injured a CAPA teacher in Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Investigators said the attack on James Addlespurger, 50, in an alley off of Liberty Avenue on Thursday afternoon was captured by several surveillance cameras.

The video shows Addlespurger walking by a group of teenagers when one of the teens abruptly hits him. Addlespurger falls and hits his head on the curb as the teens walk away.

Addlespurger teaches 10th and 12th grade English at CAPA, police said. He was recovering from the attack at home, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police.
 
Any evidence that it's a hate crime? Man's a teacher and authority breeds resentment.
 
I dont know. That's just the title of the Youtube vid. We'll have to wait and see if they catch these guys first. Did you read some of the comments in the comments section? oiii! racism is rampant
 
I make it a policy never to read YouTube user comments. Until I have the lawful authority to choose people for mandatory sterilization, it simply doesn't serve any purpose to do so.
 
I oppose the hate crime statutes but they're made to be racist. Saying the man was a teacher and that breeds resentment would presume this were an isolated incident. It isn't. I suppose the old bus driver a few days ago sucker punch by a kid as he ran off the bus was an "authority" figure?
 
Senseless violence.

If it were white kids and a black teacher, the media would likely have drummed this up as a hate crime.

That's just sad.

Well, yes. And unless he were driving for the same school system, I'd say they were both isolated incidents-- unless you're talking about a much larger pattern of black adolescent violence, which anyone with eyes will acknowledge is a problem in our society.
 
It's most likely a situation of kids just doing harm to someone because they can. I've come across teenagers that wanted to get into fights with me, calling me a punk a** boy. I want to laugh so hard at them since I am old enough to be their dad. I usually just ignore them and go on my merry way. That seems to confuse them when I don't take their bait.

Do you oppose the first, second, and third degree labels when it comes to murder?
Do you oppose the pedophile label? after all, the person is just a sex act criminal.

I never really understand why conservatives are against hate crime labels. After all, don't we want to apply the true name that fits the crime?

No evidence thus far that they knew anything about the victim - they don't go to the CAPA school.
 
Unfortunately there are kids that do this sort of thing for sport. Gangs for instance. I don't care if it is hate or sport. Just put his butt in jail.

Then we must assume there is a "Like" Crime?

When I first saw the headline, before watching the video, I strongly suspected (and we can all admit we strongly suspected) that the perpetrator was black. That the victim was white there was an above average chance. There was a video of a young black man knocking out an elderly black man, the 6 Philadelphia girls who beat the mentally challeneged woman (who was also black).

The number of incidents is staggering. Wisconsin state fair, Chicago, Virginia Beach, it goes on and on. There is a crisis of morality on the black community.

No, madman, you want to pretend a crime against certain people are more serious than crimes against others. It's discriminatory, divisive, and unfair. You obviously don't understand the different degrees of Homicide. They have nothing to do with the victim's race, sexual orientation, or political party. I do not know of a state where pedophilia is a crime. Sexual assault on a child is a crime. Do you consider that a hate crime. I'll accept that children are not capable of protecting themselves. Some have a whole list of groups who they believe are inferior and can't protect themselves.

I do not agree with hate crime laws and I am offended when hate crime laws are used to discriminate by racists.
