The city has been run into the ground by corruption, debt, overly restrictive land-use laws and business regulations, and a cozy relationship with the automakers that left the city with nowhere to go after they left. If Detroit wants to pay its cops enough to keep them there, pay for services, and return business to the city, politics need to change. Business's need to have an easier time opening. The city needs to attract these people to do business in Detroit. The city's politicians will not accomplish this by tax-boondoggles such as convention centers and sports stadiums. It needs to be easier to do business in Detroit, and the city's leaders have been slow to act, as they have been in many other large cities. Land-use needs to become less regulated so that developers can clear the vast, abandoned tracts of the Wayne County. Detroit's recovery cannot happen overnight, but cheap land has already attracted some investors, entrepreneurs, and a growing artist community.
Isn't that also where somebody wants to build a Zombie Themepark--sort of paintball without the paintballs?

Going public strongly suggests that this Lt Patterson believes her behavior, and her expectations, are perfectly acceptable.

Why is she still on the force after the first affair?

Not just here, but in our society in general.
If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

No, that isn't the problem or the solution. In actuality, that is the liberal obfuscation that Americans have endured for the past sixty years, usually immediately prior to being told to open our wallets because it's all our fault.

Given the suppression of free speech and reason in the United States, what will eventually happen is what is beginning to take place in Eastern Germany now in reaction to the destruction caused by the 3rd world immigrants throughout Europe.

Pressed to the wall, Americans will eventually begin to incrementally take back their country, one house, one neighborhood, one city, one country, one state at a time. Pressed to the wall, Americans will act, not happily, not enthusiastically, but the liberal politicians in both parties will force Americans to act. We care too much about our country, our families, our children and our faith to remain docile and passive in the face of the evil that is jeering and laughing, ridiculing us as it pushes us to the wall and steals our culture, our language, steals all that we have, all that we built for our children, all that our forefathers died for.

Detroit is long past the point where reducing taxes to more businesses friendly levels will accomplish much. The people are toxic and beyond redemption. I support letting them starve to death but, honestly, they'll kill each other off long before then.

This country needs to scale back social programs drastically to avoid creating more Detroits, Newarks, etc.

The Detroit Police Department lost the upper hand and their nerve. Complaining about too few officers is just an excuse. They're afraid.

Cheap rent and land have already attracted a few people to the city. The situation is not hopeless.
