Amazing how people who don't believe in God seem to have the biggest grudges against God.

Man arrested for plot to bomb Miami churches - FOX23 News
A man is arrested after police uncover a plot to bomb 48 churches in Miami.

Gregory Arthur Weiler II, of Illinois, was arrested after Miami police found a military bag containing 50 brown glass bottles with duct tape and a piece of cloth in a dumpster outside the Legacy Inn and Suites Thursday morning.

According to court papers, officers found a written journal entry stating "self promote for the next 4 years while beginning list of goals written out in Oklahoma having to do with destroying and removing church buildings from U.S. a tiny bit at a time - setting foundation for the years to follow."

Oh look, a silly excuse for a blanket attack on atheists because of some random dude's actions. I'm sure you're just as quick to condemn all Christians when one of them bombs an abortion clinic or shoots a doctor.

For that matter, how do you even know that he doesn't believe in God, or what his motives were? The article you cited doesn't seem to indicate that.

Thank God they caught him.

If this man actually is an atheist, he'd be the first one such ever to attempt to bomb churches in the US, to my knowledge.

Not saying that I agree with the OP in that particular regard but......turn about IS fair play after all. Lord knows I've seen lots of athiests blame the whole of Christianity, Islam etc etc for the bat**** crazy things that people do in the name of their religion.

PS: Its kind of obvious that the guy is an athiest btw. I don't know of anyone of religious background that wants to get rid of all the churches in this country....

I don't think it should matter if he was an Atheist or a Buddhist. If anyone tries to harm innocents, they're wrong, regardless of religion.

I am very shocked that this occurred, I know the family and the young man. He was brought up as a Christian and his family are very religious and devoted to the church. He has been away from his family and I am thankful that they found him before he could perfrom such a horrible act. While I keep the town in my prayers I also keep him and his family so they can recover from such a horrible act he was going to do.

Even for jamesrage and KalStang this is pretty weak. Call me when modern atheists are flying planes into buildings, killing each other over what a few smelly Semites said 1800 years ago or even strapping bombs to themselves on a weekly basis all in the name of the flying spaghetti monster.

Apparently the first part of my post wasn't clear enough. I don't agree with what jamesrage said. But it IS understandable.

Understandable how? There's no part of James' argument that is attached to reality. However it could easily be stated that the religious in general are violent. Find me a peaceful religion and I'll find ya some seaside property in Afghanistan.

That statement is simply untrue, James. There you go speaking untruths in the name of God. Rather ironic, innit?

They bombed black churches in Birmingham in the 1960s...

Yes, but for racist reasons, not to "stamp out religion".

Missed the emphasis .. I thought this was about Christians and atheists.

Tell me again how rational atheists are?

Geeze louise, you should have been ashamed to post that. "It's understandable"? S'rly?

We had a fire in a mosque in Toledo not long ago; damned near burned the place down. They just arrested the criminal, so we'll know eventually, but I'm guessing he wasn't fueled by a hatred of all religions.

Yes, understandable. There are always athiests that are quite willing to blame the whole of <insert religion here (or all)> for the idiotic things that fanatics do. Is it really any wonder that eventually someone would start pointing out the idiotic things that some idiotic athiest did also?

If one side does it then you really should expect the other side to do it the moment they get a chance to do it also. Doesn't mean that either side is right in doing it of course. But it is understandable that it happens.

This is just mealy-mouthed, weak-minded apologistic claptrap.

Where in that post did I apologize for anything? Indeed I'm quite sure that I said that it wasn't right to do it did I not?

If it wasn't right, which part did you understand? The killing people and destroying their houses of worship part?

I think perhaps you should go back and re-read what I have been talking about. See, I haven't once commented on the article or the guy that is in that article. What I have been commenting on is Kandahars (his first post in this thread) comment which was in response jamesrages comment in his first line of the OP.

Wait, wait - aren't you the guy who posted this?

as long as you've got people like the above video's that I posted show then Islamic religion will bear the standard of "most violent religions on Earth". Now before you try and say something about that I want you to do a google search with those exact words. "most violent religions on Earth" You will come up with 2,290,000 search results. Now skim or read through the first 10 that come up. What is being talked about? What religion is in every single one of those links?

It's not pretty but that is how the entire world views Islam. It's up to people like you to change that view point. It's up to people like you to stop all these terrorist organizations that claim Islam as their motivating factor.

The guy arguing that Muslims should do something about violence in religion because of how the world projects the actions of a select few unto them, is now arguing that religion shouldn't have the label of violent project unto them because of the actions of a select few. Sorry champ, how about you put yourself on the same standards you ask of Muslims and start doing something about religion as an agent of violence? ;)

Yep, I recall that. Man you had to dig deep for that didn't you? That was what? A year ago that I said that or so?

Mind linking to it? (makes me curious as to why you didn't) I would like a bit of context as I don't recall the whole conversation, or even the thread.

PS: I figured you should also know that I am not a part of any particular organized religion. I think that all organized religions are BS.

To a certain degree you are right. But in this country instead of atheist bombing stuff they file lawsuits to remove crosses from war memorials, to remove ten command commandment plaques and city seals, and to remove lines from the pledge of allegiance or to try to remove a national motto from our money.

Because obviously challenging the constitutionality of laws you don't like is pretty much the same thing as bombing a church.

Any word yet on whether he was just protesting a youtube video?

If so, they should find the person who made that video.
