Most of us have been following the activities of the Israeli funded PKK since the 1950s.. How about you>
This was suggested as a potential option by Avigor Lieberman (somewhat controversially i might add) after the Mavi Mammara incident but there is no evidence that this has already happened, least of all since since the 1950s (considering that they where founded in 1978.)
On a more general note I don't understand why so much emphasis is placed upon whom is funding whom in these debates (especially RE Syria). Sure its important but its not as if the funding explains the existence of these groups, or redeems the behavior of those on the other side. The Yishuv and Israel were both supported by Czechslovakia and the Soviet Union respectively (as indeed was Ataturk) at one stage but no one would argue that Israel has ever been a tool of world communism.
Likewise, The American revolution was backed by the French but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't have happened otherwise . Nor does it mean that the British where the good guys because they were repelling a foreign power rather than forcing a form of government upon a people that did not want it, which is exactly what Assad is doing. No matter who is supporting the rebels and why, they are fighting a legitimate revolution against a form of government they do not support or consent to, inspired by events in the wider region and no support that they choose to accept (and they would accept it from anyone, as would you) negates that in any way.
