I never suggested it wasn't their choice. And great point about societal burden. We should all probably do the responsible thing and binge drink, chain smoke, and swallow Big Macs by the dozen every day.
And if they choose not to?
Then they are rightfully subject to criticism by those who feel they are terrible and irresponsible role models for young people.

No, we should all do as we choose individually.

    Vanity is overrated.

Would you vote for Obama over Chris Christie?

Absolutely. And those in the public eye should make their choices knowing that many people look up to them, and choose to live responsibly.

Who the hell said anything about vanity? We're discussing health.

And no, I wouldn't, because my vote wouldn't have anything to do with their health. I would certainly agree, though, that Christie would be a poor role model for kids, from a health standpoint. And I would also agree with anyone who suggested that he should get healthy to serve as a better example of what kids should be striving for.

She can damn well do as she pleases, jeepers. What gives you the right to be so freakin judgemental? No one should be shamed into doing anything. You have no idea how she lives her life.
No men are anywhere, and Im allowed to go in, because Im the owner of the pageant and therefore Im inspecting it, Trump said... Is everyone OK? You know, theyre standing there with no clothes. Is everybody OK? And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.

Had she simply used her time to discuss the way unrealistic ideas of feminine beauty are destructive to girls self-esteem and used herself as an example of a successful larger woman, that would have been great. She didn't do that, though, as she made herself the focus of her piece in order to get support, she indulged in some intellectual dishonesty while doing so, and turned it into a spat with the person who sent her the e-mail, who DID have some valid points, albeit delivered in a not very nice way.
I think it was a reader comment, that's what it looked like anyway. Those are done via e-mail to the producer but shared on air. If that was the case it wouldn't be her call what aired and it was a call out.

Because she is obese, and has been for years. Being obese is NEVER healthy.

    Obese people are irresponsible now?

So health isn't important when electing the leader of the country, but it's very important when someone is on a local news show?

I had a better build than most for the longest time but injuries piled up and I got a little "fat". I'm working on that now but the only time I ever spoke to people about weight issues is when they had a problem with it and wanted advice because I made my choices and never felt those were superior to anyone else's.

Besides, I've known people with thyroid problems and super slow metabolisms who could lap many skinny people and go for longer distances. Things aren't always as they seem, and even if they are people need to be left alone about their appearance. We have enough psychologically damaged people who were held to unfair beauty standards.
