Every group has morons; street boys, judges, you name it. Condemning a population by its morons is ridiculous.

    Bummer.
Almost as funny as barbecuing the loonies at Waco right? Or is it only okay to applaud violence against people you don't like.

Barbequing men women and children at Waco =/= Pepperspraying hippies.

One results in death, the other doesn't even do lasting harm.

Now, if they were spraying actual human beings, it would be different.

Hippies though.... well why not spray 'em. It's probably good for them, keeps that vegetable between their ears from drying out too much.

State sanctioned violence is not a tool to be used on people sitting peacefully on the ground, regardless of whether it annoys other people or not.
The protesters don't get to form a blockade to prevent LEOs from arresting folks, either. They don't get to demand those police release the detainees or they can't pass. If the arrest was wrongful, you get to contest it after the event. They weren't just sitting in a line, they were trying to create their own rules and detaining police to do it.

So I suppose you'd sit back and do nothing if someone pepper sprayed your kids in the face. No lasting harm right?

    My kids aren't hippies.

I have some relatives who are hippies though. Would you like to pepper spray them? We can set something up.... I'll have to charge $19.99 per hippie, because I have to buy them some weed and Doritos or they won't do it, and pictures of you spraying them are extra of course, unless you bring your own photographer.

Dude, I am yanking your chain... but seriously, the way I heard it is that the hippies were blocking the right of way and refused repeated requests to disperse, etc. If you want to do that stuff, fine... but if you engage in civil disobedience that disrupts the normal flow of life for your fellow citizens, don't expect to be sprayed with fairie dust and given a free latte and a pat on the head.

    Y'know?

The people sitting on the ground were not detaining anyone. A 2 foot high barrier is not a "blockade", which is quite evident in the video when the police officer steps over the students to pepper spray them.

Not as easy when you have custody of suspects. Next time you see a cop arresting someone, go block their way. See how quickly you learn how a taser, baton, or pepper spray feels. Shouting as a group "Let them go" over and over, followed with a mic check and "If you let them go, you can go" is detaining. It's also highly illegal, by the way.

The cop used the pepper spray improperly (to the point of considerable overexposure) and was told not to make arrests going into the situation. Those things are very bad and he should have been fired. This was NOT a group of peaceful, law abiding protesters, however.
