I guess my local news had a lot more on this story.
The Girl was a straight A student, who got into in school suspension (ISS) for some
    infraction.
She did not want to waste her time in (ISS), and the school has a policy that allows
students to choose to be paddled instead of (ISS).
Where all of this broke down, was there was not a Female teacher who would do the paddling,
so with another teacher present, a Male teacher paddled her.
The second breakdown came when she and her mother thought the paddling was too rough. (Left marks)
But keep in mind the student choose to be paddled.

Two alternatives. Have the principal announce to the school they he just paddled Johnny but don't paddle him. Let's the ribbing he gets suffice as punishment.

Or, have little Johnny paint the school, there are plenty of schools that need a new coat of paint with the offending child.

As for going Seal Team Six on the school board. Lighten up, Francis.

FYI, the parents have to sign a form giving consent for this change.

I was spanked as a child by my dad (and worse at times), my mother used a wooden spoon on my hands and guess what...I'm about the nicest person you will ever meet.

As to the OP. I was spanked many times by school officials. I turned out just fine in the end and see nothing wrong with it now.

If corporal punishment is not excessive, I seriously doubt it has any damage.

So you don't object to a school administrator copping a feel on your teen daughter anytime they feel like it? The fact that the guy violated the policy that was in place twice suggests it wasn't really a case of them not being able to find a female teacher but rather him being a scumbag. As for the school changing its policy to give Chester the Molester free reign, that's about what the rest of us expect from Texas where inbreeding has apparently taken a terrible toll.

And I'm certainly happy you turned out that way. There is, however, a very good reason why anecdotal evidence isn't as good as scientific evidence from the observation of multiple test subjects. You claiming you turned out just fine is no different than you saying it's summer and me disagreeing on the basis that it's chilly where I am.

There is a difference between paddling and "copping a feel". Paddling is done with an implement, on a covered bottom. End of story.

Actually bad analogy there. It can still be chilly in the summer time. So you thinking that its chilly does not mean that its not summer. Summer is a season, not a climate.

In any case I would bet that I could find just as many people as that "study" of yours has and come up with a different conclusion. Provided I had the time and money to do it of course. Studies can be rigged.
