Now, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority wants to hike the Verrazano Bridge toll to $15, and Staten Islanders are banding together to say “enough is enough” with all these tolls.

my goodness, the stories weekly, almost daily, coming out of places like new york and chicago...

murder rates and gun control, the war on chick fil'a, the removal of infant formula from mothers unless they go thru "counseling," a teachers strike for the highest paid "educators" in the land, a ban on large sodas, morning after pills for hi school freshmen---at selected schools only---without parental consent, rahm's mandatory "wellness" program, the clinic for which was operated out of a garbage truck garage...

hey, nanny knows best, she's an expert

It is a city, which ought not to be a place for cars. If they need to invest in thier transportation infrastructure then they should do so, but cars are not sustainable with population density beyond a certain point so anything that decreases the amount of cars in a given area is a good thing. Maybe this toll will discourage car use.

What is funny is that the right always wants less federal power and more in the hands of local government even on issues like abortion. Aren't all these supposed excesses the actions of local governments? In my experience the further down you go on the government scale the more corrupt it is apt to be and at a lower price too.
