In recent days we have been witness to Obama's feckless, weak foreign policy in the Middle East, offering apology, after apology, including paying out some $70K for an ad to air in Pakistan, and their government still made Friday a holiday to protest, where 19 died...All this supposedly over a laughable movie, (Not really) and what is set to return just in time to offend Christians?

The controversial “Piss Christ” artwork Sen. Alfonse D’Amato once branded as a “deplorable, despicable display of vulgarity,” is coming to New York, and security is being heavily ramped- up at the gallery that will show the piece.

Will we see Ms. Rice sent out to all 5 Sunday shows to apologize for that? How about Hillary, who is looking frightening lately BTW...? Will Obama make it to the Rose Garden to denounce Mr. Sorrano? Doubt it....

Almost immediately after it was announced that “Piss Christ” would be making a surprise return to the Big Apple, Christian leaders and conservative lawmakers began accusing the Obama administration of religious hypocrisy, saying while the White House has been silent on the anti-Christian photograph, it has constantly and strongly condemned the low-budget anti-Muslim YouTube clip “Innocence of Muslims” that offended people of the Islamic faith and supposedly sparked unrest in the Middle East.
“The Obama administration’s hypocrisy and utter lack of respect for the religious beliefs of Americans has reached an all-time high,” Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.)told Fox News. “I call on President Obama to stand up for America’s values and beliefs and denounce the ‘Piss Christ’ that has offended Christians at home and abroad.”

Well don't hold your breath Rep. Grimm....Obama won't do that, he has no respect for religious values, or what offends Christians in this country. He only made a big deal over this stupid movie because it is a good distraction of his failed foreign policy of weakness.

Obviously Christians, if they don't wish to see this kind of thing anymore, should simply riot and kill people since apparently acting like complete savages and in an entirely illogical manner is justification for denying other people freedom of speech.

Either that or live reeeeeeaaaallllly far away. If it's too close to home, liberals think Christians should just "get over it."

Let's go burn down the embassy. Since apparently it doesn't matter which one, I vote Switzerland. ****ing Swiss....

... we can always take the governemnts lead and blame the artist ;)

Where is the outrage from the Obama Administration? Nowhere.

Only when radical Islam is offended comes the flood of apologies. That's Obama's way, but everybody knows that by now, so it's no surprise really.

Yea, This situation is just fail all around for Obama and liberals... if they just admit that they are wrong it might just save them some credibility if they had any in the first place.

I just do not understand this crap.

Honestly, only comes from people who have a beef with Muslims.

Certainly J-mac and you do.

How the hell is it an apology, for the government to say "Hey We don't endorse a Islam being mocked in this manner" because the United States has a great deal more to gain by saying such a thing than they have to gain from ignorant islamophobes who associate the few violent muslims with the rest of them.

That's then taken by far right wingers as "Apologizing to terrorists" when he's turning them into chicken Tika using drones every other week.

I don't even know what universe you people live in... honestly.

This isn't about apologies, this is about you being pissed off that there aren't more people sticking it to Islam because you have a problem with it, Obama administration in particular.

"The work has been attacked by vandals in Australia and Sweden. And last year a hammer-wielding lay critic in France permanently damaged one of the 10 existing prints, perhaps in ways that only deepened its commentary on bodily suffering. (”It looked like they’d attacked Christ,” Mr. Serrano told The Post. “The marks were all around the face.”).

People are outraged as perhaps they should be, but, the reactions have been within somewhat acceptable parameters, barring property damage, in a civilized society. No one died as a result.

"French lawyer for the Collection Lambert, Agnes Tricoire shows 'Immersion Piss Christ', a controversial piece of art by US artist Andres Serrano partially destroyed by catholic activists, on July 19, 2012 in Avignon southern France. The “Piss Christ”, from the contemporary art collection of the Lambert foundation, was created in 1987 and represents a small plastic crucifix submerged in a glass of the artist’s urine. French criminal court cancelled the summons of the four defendants who vandalized two art works by Andres Serrano"

The same Obama administration which has killed both innocent Muslims and Muslim terrorists is being taken to task for avoiding a foreign policy nightmare with the very people who are already pissed about us killing both them AND the terrorists. Let partisanship rule the day.

I take Andres Serrano, the artist, at his word when he claims that the photograph"alludes to a perceived commercializing or cheapening of Christian icons in contemporary culture." Piss Christ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Let's look at the photo:

220px-Piss_Christ_by_Serrano_Andres_(1987).jpg

I would like to see an artist made print of the photo to see it in the color and saturation that Serrano intended. This scan probably does not do the original justice.

I think the image is well composed and has a soft quality that makes the crucified Christ look even more tragic than it would out of the urine. The lighting particularly is well chosen. To me, the photo says that the sacrifice of Christ on the cross retains its dignity, perhaps it is even enhanced, by the degradation and marginalization of the crucifixion in popular culture.

All Christians know that persecution is coming, because it has been foretold. We must all expect to suffer for His name. Serrano, whether intentionally or unintentionally, has made an artistic statement about that very reality. Through it all, Christ's sacrifice retains its deep significance, and our salvation is not diminished one bit by the slings and arrows of those who hate or trivialize the word of God.

The scan is pretty good.

The biggest lie told about this piece it's that is an attack on Jesus. If anything it's about the way in which modern Christians have corrupted the message of Christ.

Have you seen the original?

Yes several times. I've also met the artist. I use to watch the crowds out in front of the New Museum on Broadway protesting from a photo studio I worked in.

I see. What do you think of the photo? Controversy aside, what do you think it's value is as art?

It is a fine photo. Would make a good stock image if it didn't have all the baggage associated with it.

It is also about body fluids and how we react to them. In communion one is drinking blood yet if we see it around on street or what not we have a fear of it.

Does the Christian right also believe the White House should comment on every movie released? Let's face it, I've heard right wingers claim the last "Cars" movie had anti-business and Republican overtones.

What, no riots? Hmmmm.

IOW, you're ok with any religion being offended, as long as it's not Islam? Am I close?

IOW, you're ok with any religion being offended, as long as it's not Islam? Am I close?

I can see why you'd get that from what I said.

But that's not the case.

Personally I hate people who are too touchy about their religion.

But at the same time I also don't see the point in making fun of someones religion just to be a dick either.

I think it's one thing to make fun of something to be funny, another to be a jackass.

But all in all I think the people who lost their **** over the film are as idiotic as the people who get offended by piss christ.

In terms of international diplomacy the Obama administration did the only sane thing it could given the situation.

You're going to disagree.

That's fine.

But there's a reason you'd never make it in the diplomatic Corp.

You have been posting on here for the last 2 weeks defending free speech and the right that guy had to make that movie and now another American attacks Christainity this time you want the Obama admin to express their outrage? * mind is blown
