doin mah git down wiff mah bad seff dance...

Downplay it all you want Chick's Board took a step back away from controversial groups such as Focus on the Family and the National Organization for Marriage. Don't sniff at a few fast food bags for a small back water event, which by the way is how Watergate started, a minor event that ended with Nixon resigning in disgrace.

Small event that causes big changes, the ol' flap of a butterfly wing.

IF all Chick ever did was sling free food at certain groups then the dismissive right might have something, but this goes far belong that.

now how is that Nabisco boycott going?

one thing to consider while doing the victory dance....

they might stop giving in the corporations name... but I doubt the donations will stop entirely.
most likely, they'll just donate in their own names, or guide the money through other entities.

with the added bonus of bringing back customers they might have lost over this stupid dust-up..

Chick-fil-A agrees to stop funding anti-gay groups, Chicago alderman says | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

Chick-fil-A, the fast food chain that sparked a firestorm earlier this year after its president made public comments against same sex marriage, has agreed to stop funding anti-gay groups, a Chicago alderman says.

Joe Moreno, the alderman whose opposition of a proposed Chick-fil-A on Chicago's north side helped fuel the controversy, told the Chicago Tribune the company has pledged to include a statement of respect for all sexual orientations in a memo to staffers and has promised that the WinShape Foundations, its not-for-profit arm, would no longer contribute money to groups that oppose gay marriage.

Chick-Fil-A realized that bigotry was going to substantially hurt their long term profits.
Well i dont see the evidence that they changed thier position but it is a great thing they no longer give money to what I consider hate groups.

Like I have always said, believe its wrong, teach it wrong, feel its wrong, preach its wrong etc etc that is a persons rights but as soon as you do things to STOP equal rights IMO you are a bigot and a huge hypocrite.

So now in my opinion the CEO just has a belief, one i disagree with, no biggie.

    Any proof sales fell off?

If the company was so worried about making bank.... why still stay closed on Sunday? Losing alot of money right there........

    If money is everything...of course.....

I ate there before, I ate there after the story about the donations came out, and I will eat there again.

Try to figure out those politics.....

Staying closed on Sundays has always been their policy. The recent controversy most likely had a more direct impact on their sales. These types of decisions are always based on economics. I would doubt very highly that CFA changed their position out of the goodness of their hearts.

    I dunno about you....

But some of us eat where food tastes good. Shop where the items that we need are (and are well priced) and are easy to get around/to/from/in, etc.

I don't give a rats ass what liberal or religious "causes" they care about. None of that trumps the "cause" of taking care of my own family first.

But I reckon a wealthy liberal doesn't have to worry about stuff like that.

    I highly doubt it.

Why? Because many people don't stick with silly boycotts for very long at all.

And most people..... just don't give a ****.

I'm not wealthy by any strectch of the imagination. However, I do consider myself politically conscious and care about what companies and policies me and my family support. Given a choice, I'm going to spend my dollars doing business with companies that reflect my values and beliefs. I generally don't mind paying a dollar or two more to support an independent local business as well. I certainly respect your right to shop whereever or however you like....me personally, I feel morally obligated to vote with my pocketbook. But to each his own.
