Chick-fil-A agrees to stop funding anti-gay groups, Chicago alderman says | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

Chick-fil-A, the fast food chain that sparked a firestorm earlier this year after its president made public comments against same sex marriage, has agreed to stop funding anti-gay groups, a Chicago alderman says.

Joe Moreno, the alderman whose opposition of a proposed Chick-fil-A on Chicago's north side helped fuel the controversy, told the Chicago Tribune the company has pledged to include a statement of respect for all sexual orientations in a memo to staffers and has promised that the WinShape Foundations, its not-for-profit arm, would no longer contribute money to groups that oppose gay marriage.

Chick-Fil-A realized that bigotry was going to substantially hurt their long term profits.
That was the right thing to do.
The devil whispered in my ear, "You cannot withstand the storm." I whispered back, "I am the storm."

Do you honestly believe that they changed their position "out of the goodness of their hearts"? Come on! This is a business decision, plain and simple.

Good. That's the American way. Whatever your views....vote with your pocketbook. I subscribe every year to a publication called "Shopping for a better world". It ranks pretty much every chain business on their records on gender equality, ethnic equality etc. I use it all the time to determine where my dollars go.

Interesting. Do you get it online, or is it hard-copy. I might find that a very useful tool as well.

Thank you. I may have to pick up a copy of that, though probably for the opposite use that you have for it.

    They flockED.

Had they continued flockING, i doubt they would have changed their policies.
