Pakistani protester dies from breathing smoke of burning US flags

A protester in Lahore, Pakistan has died after inhaling the fumes from the American flags he burned on Sunday. Abdullah Ismail was part of a demonstration protesting the Islam-trolling film "The Innocence of Muslims" in front of the U.S. Embassy. According to his fellow protesters, Ismail "complained of feeling unwell from [breathing] the smoke" of the burning American flags and was transported to Lahore's Mayo Hospital where he later died. More than 10,000 people filled the streets to protest the film and its blasphemy, blocking traffic for over six hours

That's just an internet prank story that people so liked they circulated it. But it has been debunked as not true.

This does not appear to be an internet joke, Joko, I provided several sources that are considered reliable and that have been vetted and cross referenced.

You keep on repeating the same thing without any sources....come on already...

This wasn't ironic, though it is darkly funny.

No doubt America will be blamed for this death, even though the flag was likely made in China.

Well if we didn't have an official flag, people wouldn't be trying to burn it. So obviously not only is it all our fault, but we must ban flags!

But that would kill one of Eddie Izzard's best bits!

Don't know if the story is true or not, but it did give me a chuckle nonetheless

Now, come on folks -- we don't need to ban the flag. All we need to do is pass mountains of legal restrictions that include a mandatory warning label that smoke inhalation may cause death among various inbred Pakistanis suffering from the debilitating effects of generations of first cousin marriage.

iWhy isn't any effort made to be able to identify protestors in the event of murder and violence? I simple high pressure water cannon (more like a long range squirt gun than knock-you-down-gusher) with an alcohol based purple ink with an unique smell would allow tracking and identifying anyone for at least 24 to 48 hours - yet harm no one. Fire departments have such high pressure long range pumpers - max range about 100 yards depending on the wind. Dogs could track it (or now electronic sniffers) and the person obviously identified.

Since many of those governments don't really like radicals and troublemakers - and all the extreme social, religious and political divisions, it likely they would more fear reprisals from their own people.

(That and back up the water cannon with a couple of mini-guns. Hey, they could even be loaded with rubber bullets - 6000 a minute. )

Which is probably the reason he died. No doubt toxic dyes used in the Chinese plant that made it.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

The ironic part was a American made fun of a foreigner who died exercising their freedom of speech.

You got to admit its funny as hell regardless. The ulitmate in hung by their own petard.
