Gas Prices More Than Double Under Obama: $1.84 to $3.85

Average retail gasoline prices have more than doubled under President Obama, according to government statistics, rising from $1.84 per gallon to $3.85 per gallon.

The average gasoline price is calculated by the Energy Information Agency, and shows that over the past 43 months of President Obama’s term retail gasoline prices have more than doubled, rising from an average of $1.84 per gallon to $3.85 per gallon.

Re: Gas Prices More Than Double Under Obama: $1.84 to $3.85

I would love to ask in what gas station in the US were gas prices 1.84 per gallon in the past 20 years? The lowest i have seen gas prices in 20 years is 2.80s and that was a month or two ago.

can anyone out there say they have seen 1.84 cent gas since 2000?

They were below $1.80 in 2008 here in CT.

yeah..i've seen 1.84 since 2000... in Nevada, and Texas

I mainly purchase diesel though.. which is significant higher than regular unleaded... filling up my truck runs me about 170 bucks.

In the past 20 years? Back to 1992?

    Let's see . . . December 2001, I paid 91 cents a gallon in NE Charlotte. It didn't breach $1.50 until spring 2003. $1.85 was still outrageous in March 2004.

    In mid-2006 I paid $1.98 in Fayetteville.

In December 2008, I paid $1.53 in Myrtle Beach.

When I lived in Chattanooga in the summer 1998 I used to drive across the border because there was a station in GA that had gas for 76 cents a gallon. It was 90 cents in Tennessee, what a ripoff!

And credit to the OP for acknowledging that the GOP deserves credit for the market crash and ensuring panic that cut gas prices in half in the final months of 2008. Where we differ is that I don't think that was a good thing for the country.

    Oh yeah.

I forgot that lever in the oval office that controls the price of a globally produced and traded commodity!

That seems pretty harsh considering that he actually asked if anyone had paid less than $2.80, and didn't claim that lower prices were false.
