As for wages dropping, that's been going on for much longer than the Obama presidency
middle class incomes fell (about $4000 per dollars per year) twice as fast after the obama "recovery" than they did during the worst recession since the great depression

the vast majority of the jobs created by small business are low paying service jobs
58% of the way-too-few jobs created since the summer of 09 pay between 8 and 13 dollars per hour, the top gainers are retail and food service

omnibus energy---mobilize this nation, marshal its anxiety over its future, like fdr in ww2, direct it purposefully towards the goal of energy production, anything and everything that promises to pay---oil, refineries, offshore, public lands, anwr, xl, electrical power plants, clean coal, gas, nukes, alternatives, wind, solar, tidal, butterfly wings, shale, alternatives, batteries, tax breaks for, public investment in, r&d, fracking...

these are great jobs we're talking, better, they're fine professions, careers, with good salaries, benefits, pensions, health care, room for advancement...

energy is a guaranteed worldwide critical need for at least the next hundred years, he or she who produces power will have the entire planet at his or her well grounded feet

mobilize this country, emergency footing, like fdr in 1940, an urgent, single minded national mission of energy production

hope, direction, vision, leadership---i believe this nation would respond with eagerness

    beats despair

If you are really into statistics you already know how difficult it was for qualified people with disabilities to get good jobs before 2008. You know that disabled people are woefully underemployed as well. NOT because they want to be unemployed or underemployed. You know that even qualified people with disabilities are often, far too often the last to be hired and the first to be fired. (Don't tell me that there are laws to prevent firing people with disabilities. An HR guy or his director would have to be a raving dolt not to know how to get around the law.)

Contrary to what seems to be your (misguided) belief, most people want to work. They want good jobs that offer opportunity and decent pay and a chance to move up. The vast majority of people in America don't want to live like a refugee. But when the economy hits the skids people with disabilities are even more likely not to be hired and even more likely to be fired. Being a numbers guy you already know all this.

Look also at the demographics of aging, disability and unemployment. The first baby boomers crossed the threshold of 65 just a could of years ago. You also know that good or bad, baby boomers have had a huge impact of every stage of life they reached. Why because - as you know - it is a huge population. Many of those boomers had retired or were planning on retiring when Wall Street stole their retirement incomes. Many had to try and go back to work or continued on working until they got axed. Why? Because in many cases it was cheaper by far to get rid of the senior employees with all the benefits. Also, boomers due to age tend to have, what? Disabilities.

Older Americans are right behind disabled Americans in experiencing job discrimination. So guess what? Older people who lost their jobs or lost their savings and have acquired a disability have hard no chance at finding work. Add one more thing to the mixed, race. If you are an ethnic minority American who is older and has a disability, you're ****ed. You aren't getting a job.

Look at the economy, add in the other factors (the ones you thought the rest of us wouldn't know anything about) and there is the real answer.

    LOL!

he's not the only one who knows

    most people want to work
we sure do, millions can't find anything in obama's "recovery"

They want good jobs that offer opportunity and decent pay and a chance to move up
58% of us who succeed in securing work end up making around $10 per hour

The first baby boomers crossed the threshold of 65 just a could (sic) of years ago

Prof - The silence following my question to you is kind of disappointing.

I'm no Obama fan but I contend that this would be happening no matter who was in charge. So, please tell me what Obusha should have done instead.

This is a real question and I hope you'll discuss it with me. I don't have a cat in this race. I'm voting for Gary Johnson. So no partisan stuff, real thoughts. Thank you.

And in 2007 food service was #1 and retail was #3 with health care in the middle. You are attempting to blame long term trends in the job market on Obama's policies.

Well, since Conrad was vehemently opposed to any public option himself, that would have become a self fulfilling prophecy. For good or bad, Democrats don't seemm capable of sharing the same hive mind recent GOP representatives and senators do.

If that's a reference to the Tribune company filing for bankruptcy, are you now attempting to blame the general decline of newspapers on Obama also? What's next, we find out it was Obama who created and released AIDS?
