Armada of British naval power massing in the Gulf as Israel prepares an Iran strike - Telegraph

An armada of US and British naval power is massing in the Persian Gulf in the belief that Israel is considering a pre-emptive strike against Iran’s covert nuclear weapons programme.

Battleships, aircraft carriers, minesweepers and submarines from 25 nations are converging on the strategically important Strait of Hormuz in an unprecedented show of force as Israel and Iran move towards the brink of war.

I can't help but think that there's some connection between this and the attacks on US embassies.

well... something is going to happen... I might be wrong but my bets are before the year's end.

It's just wargames that have been schedualed for months. If you read the article, it goes on to say that. The headline is nothing but an eye-grabber.

It seems to me unlikely that this is truly evidence of an impending Israel attack. Amassing ships before an attack would ruin any strategic element of surprise. And there's 25 nations involved in this. There's no way Israel would let make 25 nations privy to their assault intentions - the risk is too great for a leak of info to Iran. The article author identifies this as an annual exercise, albeit the largest ever.

I don't doubt this is an exercise to prepare for a possible Israel attack and the ensuing Iranian response. I just don't consider it evidence that it's going to happen anytime soon.

It is not required for Israel to inform these 25 nations of their plans, for these 25 nations to prepare for what they think Israel might do.

It kind of is, because thankfully Israel doesn't possess the hardware needed to pull off such an insane stunt without outside assistance.

Not if they are there for the potential reaction of the region should Israel attack. Like Iran trying to shut down the straights.

Given what we know of Israel, they do posses the hardware.

Yes, that's basically what I said. These nations are preparing for a contingency. The exercise doesn't indicate that these nations are aware of Israel's plans or that Israel is going to strike soon.
