Exclusive: America 'was warned of embassy attack but did nothing'

I said, "Running always appeals to the weak in the beginning."
to which you foolishly replied,
It's easy to sound tuff on the internet, isn't it?
Yes. It is easy to sound tough on the Internet. It is also clearly easy to sound foolish. You have that part adequately covered.

Yes, it is. But some just assume tough talk without taking into account that at least some of us "have been there, done that" and placed our own personal survival below the needs of the country on many, many occasions. Someone posting "tough talk" I might take seriously if the have "been there, done that" over someone who stayed home "smoking dope and bad mouthing their country".

This site, at least for some, has that star thing under your name to distinguish between the "been there, done thats" and others, unfortunately, I have never figured out how to make it come up and no one on the site currently seems to be updating them. I noticed that you, others and myself have all mentioned many times that we served, but we don't have that star. Someone reading your post and not seeing that star, or not knowing what it stands for, just might think you are "talking tough" and are not a "been there, done that" if they didn't read some of your other posts.

I am unaware of the star. But yes, I have been to many places and served for twenty years. But look! No holes!

No holes here either, but since I have a disability rating from the VA of 100%, can't claim I came through it completely unscathed after 22yrs, 8 months.

In retrospect I was fortunate. At the time I was angry. During the war years I was in a unit that had a higher priority. Many of us volunteered for Gulf War One. I was a Defense Intelligence Agency trained Intelligence Collection Manager. I had two years of corps level intelligence collection experience. Why shouldn't I go?

I should not tell you what I was doing. But many of us who volunteered were frustrated when our Commander told us we would not be going.

up a few posts, iliveonromen made a post, look at his star, Look at the "awards" section, where the # of years circle and the XK number of posts are, hold your curser over his star, US Army. Supposed to indicate veterans, just not sure how it gets put there.

I wonder if one has to join the veterans group and have a Moderator put the star there. I have joined. Let's see if the star appears.

If I remember guys it's in your User control settings, either in set up, or somewhere in the questions about your profile you answer the question about Military service, and how many years, and it is added to your profile, and displayed.

Ok, found it. At the top, on the Forum Tab, go to Community, a drop down menu will include Awards, scroll down available awards, and you will find a "request award" link at the far right of the veteran ones. Submit request. Fill out text box, submit.

Now I waiting to see if it appears.
