IMO.. Prince Harry shouldn't go.. The focus on him would endanger his fellow soldiers.

Perhaps one of the most well-known, but poorly-understood lines in the Declaration of Independence is “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…”. I guess too many of us don't really understand that this is a rejection of the European tradition of royalty and nobility, which holds that some men are born better than others, simply because of the titles that their parents hold and their position within the whole royal/noble hierarchy.

Beside that, if the British think that their princes are that valuable, then they ought not be so willing to put them in harm's way.
What you are saying is true, and I agree. Because the U.K. has been a long time ally though I would almost guarantee we go in.

I agree with you, it's a security nightmare scenario. Then again when the royal family wants to do something it's kind of hard to stop them.

It appears that the Taliban has caught the attention of NATO, "in Brussels NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen dismissed the threat, Yeah, well, obviously that is not a matter of concern. I mean, we do everything we can to protect all our troops deployed to Afghanistan, whatever might be their personal background." Looks like the Taliban has been answered....

It doesn't make sense to announce your plans to your enemy.

Maybe they have some other target in mind?

I don't know if Prince Harry being there is wise, but it is admirable.

I suspect that the US wouldn't allow a high-profile American to serve on the front lines. For example, if Obama's daughters were older and wanted to enlist, I suspect that they'd be kept far from harm's way. Which is probably a good idea.

Agreed. It's incredibly stupid for the British government to allow this IMO. This seems like it has a lot of downside and very little upside. If they just want to restore Prince Harry's image following his tabloid embarrassments, they should just send him in some kind of supportive role instead of on the front lines.
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.

Absolutely. It would be a nightmare if the Taliban does capture or assassinate him though, it would start the war back to full.

I'm guessing he'll be well covered and protected. To be sure, a capture would be very serious. As for a "war in full", we simply aren't in a position to reverse course at this point. I'll guess that drone technology will make the area very dangerous for the rest of time, but there will never be a clear resolution.

Eh, a lot of factors on the ground could change. It's impossible to know what a buildup would entail and frankly, I hope we never have to find out.
